Canton Pro X.3 Outdoor Compact Speaker, Black (Pair)

The Canton Pro X.3 is a universal indoor and outdoor compact speaker with a moisture-protected housing that you can either place freely or mount on a wall or ceiling using the included bracket.

It's the smaller counterpart to the Pro XL.3 – technically closely related to the Plus X.3, but designed for patio, garden or damp rooms. Anyone who's ever left a regular speaker out in the rain and learned the disappointment that follows knows exactly why this line exists.

Why the Canton Pro X.3?

Because an outdoor speaker doesn't automatically have to sound like a hardware-store special. A 110 mm aluminium woofer and a 25 mm fabric tweeter sit in a moisture-protected housing built for balcony, garden or poolside, without making big compromises on sound.

What you hear

A solid, unassuming sound with clear voices and enough level for a garden party or background music on the patio. For sound coverage of a large, sprawling garden you'll need several pairs or the bigger Pro XL.3, not a single pair of Pro X.3.

Who is the Canton Pro X.3 for?

For anyone who wants to listen to music on a balcony, patio or in the bathroom, without the speakers giving up at the first shower of rain. Bottom line: if you listen in a dry living room, you're paying needlessly for moisture protection you don't need – the cheaper Plus X.3 serves you better.

Our verdict

The Pro X.3 makes good on what fine print about outdoor speakers rarely delivers: it holds up as promised, without sounding like a compromise. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we advise you on cable routing, amplifier and mounting, so the system still plays after a couple of summers.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Canton Pro X.3 stay outdoors permanently?

The housing is moisture-protected and designed for outdoor use, so occasional rain is no problem. For permanent frost or unprotected weather exposure, we recommend seasonal removal or a well-sheltered mounting position.

What's the difference between the Pro X.3 and the Pro XL.3?

Mainly the driver size: a 110 mm woofer for the X.3 versus 130 mm for the XL.3. The XL.3 handles more power and is the better choice for larger outdoor areas.

Is one pair of Pro X.3 enough for the whole garden?

For a patio or seating area, usually yes; for a sprawling garden, not really – a second pair or the bigger Pro XL.3 is the better choice there. We're happy to work out the coverage with you.

Which amplifier suits the Pro X.3?

An outdoor-rated or multiroom amplifier with weatherproof wiring, assuming a rated impedance of 8 ohms. We're happy to help clarify what fits your patio.
