The Canton Power Sub 8 S2 is an active subwoofer with a built-in amplifier that, as the most compact model in the Power Sub S2 series, supplies small to medium-sized rooms with classic, wired bass.
No wireless, no smart pairing – just plug in an RCA or speaker cable, and the 219 mm driver with passive radiator delivers the low end that bookshelf and floor-standing speakers often lack. 280 watts of music power, black finish, sold individually.
Why the Canton Power Sub 8 S2?
The Sub 8 S2 does exactly one thing and does it right: give bass a foundation under bookshelf or compact floor-standing speakers, with no wireless, no app, no compromises on reliability. The 219 mm driver with aluminium-titanium cone fires forward, while an additional passive radiator fires downward – bringing more depth out of a still-compact cabinet than a single driver could deliver alone. The built-in amplifier delivers 200 watts rated and 280 watts music power, and the three-step room correction compensates for rough placement mistakes right on the unit.

Who is the Canton Power Sub 8 S2 for?
Bottom line: the Sub 8 S2 is a compact all-rounder for stereo and home cinema setups in living rooms up to about 25 square metres, not a deep-bass monster for a basement screening room. If you want classic wired operation without any wireless fuss and can live with an 8-inch driver, this is the right choice. If you regularly play a noticeably larger room, ask about the 10-inch or 12-inch model in the series right away – better to say so upfront than afterwards.
Our verdict
An honest, unassuming active subwoofer that gives music a foundation and films some weight, without any frills and without a big cabinet. Our specialist team in Wädenswil helps you work out whether eight inches is enough for your room or whether a size up would be the smarter call – a subwoofer that fits the room, after all, doesn't stand out.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Power Sub 8 S2 match my speakers?
In almost all cases, yes. With its crossover frequency adjustable from 50 to 200 Hz and its high-level and low-level inputs, it fits practically any stereo or home cinema system, whether bookshelf or floor-standing speakers are in front of it. Tell us what you have, and we'll tell you if the combination is right.
How big can the room be for the Power Sub 8 S2?
With its 219 mm driver and 280 watts of music power, it feels most at home in small to medium rooms up to about 25 square metres. For larger living rooms or home cinema rooms, we recommend a size up – better a bit of headroom than a subwoofer working flat out all the time.
Where's the best place to put the Power Sub 8 S2?
Thanks to the downfire passive radiator, placement isn't critical, though being near a wall or in a corner adds extra bass. The three-step room correction compensates for a lot of that. Moving it a few centimetres often achieves more than any dial turn – or call us and we'll work through it together.
Power Sub 8 S2, 10 S2 or 12 S2 – what's the difference?
All three work on the same principle but differ in driver size and music power: 219 mm and 280 watts for the 8-inch, 257 mm and 330 watts for the 10-inch, 308 mm and 380 watts for the 12-inch. The larger the room or the more level you want, the more the next size up pays off.
Why buy the Canton Power Sub 8 S2 from HD Zürisee?
Because a subwoofer only truly delivers its foundation with the right size and placement. Our specialist team knows the differences between 8, 10 and 12 inches from practical experience, not just from a datasheet, and technician Mauri can dial in your sub on-site if you like. Call us or write to us in Wädenswil.
Goes well with
Matching bookshelf speakers or floor-standing speakers to lead up front, the right subwoofer cable for the connection, and more home cinema speakers if stereo should grow into more.
