The Canton Movie 2005.3 is a 5.1 home cinema set made up of two CD 220.3 front speakers, one centre, two surround speakers, and the Sub 601 active subwoofer, bundling Canton's regular aluminium series into a complete surround system.

Unlike the smaller Movie sets, every component here comes from Canton's regular aluminium range – the CD 220.3 and the Sub 601 are also in our range individually. Buy them as a set and you get exactly the same technology, just five channels plus subwoofer as a cleanly matched whole.

Why the Canton Movie 2005.3?

Because there's no stripped-down "set version" fitted here, but genuine aluminium speakers with their own tweeter and mid-woofer per channel. Yes. Front and surround correspond to the CD 220.3, the subwoofer is the Sub 601 – we carry both as individual products too. In the set you get the same technology, matched together as a complete 5.1 system, usually cheaper than buying all five components separately.

Do I need an additional amplifier?

Yes, absolutely. Only the Sub 601 is active; front, centre, and surround need an AV receiver or Canton's Smart Amp 5.1 with at least five channels. Without this building block, the set stays silent apart from the bass.

Can I place the front speakers freestanding too?

Yes. The CD 220.3 comes with a wall bracket, but sits just as well on a sideboard or a matching stand. For the surround channels, wall mounting is usually the better option to keep them out of the way.

How much power does my amplifier need for this set?

Front and surround handle 50 watts RMS, the centre 70 watts, each with music power headroom above that. In practice, an amplifier with five channels between 60 and 150 watts per channel is comfortably enough – we're happy to match that to your unit.
