The Audio Analogue Pure AACento is an analogue integrated amplifier without global negative feedback, delivering 100 W into 8 Ω and carrying both an MM/MC phono stage and a dedicated headphone amplifier in pure Class A. Hand-built in Italy.

In natural aluminium, the AACento takes on a lighter, more technical look. Inside, everything stays just as serious: a 480 VA toroidal transformer, relay-based source selection, and a signal path without a single op-amp.

Why the Pure AACento?

Because it brings integrated amplifier, phono preamp and headphone amp together in one chassis, without any of the three ending up an afterthought. The power section delivers 100 W at 8 Ω, 200 W at 4 Ω and 330 W at 2 Ω, with an output impedance of 0.4 Ω. Phono accepts MM and MC with a switchable subsonic filter, and the headphone stage runs in pure Class A without negative feedback, delivering up to 1 W at 32 Ω.

What you hear

Power without hardness. The AACento sounds sonorous and full of colour, yet stays composed even in complex passages, because it never runs out of headroom. Volume is controlled digitally while the signal path stays analogue, so even room-level listening volumes don't collapse. On headphones you hear the same signature, just a shade more intimate.

Who is the Pure AACento for?

For people with a record collection and a good pair of headphones who still want just one box in the rack. Plainly put: if you expect streaming, Bluetooth or digital inputs, you're in the wrong place — everything here is analogue, and a digital source has to be added separately. And if you neither listen to vinyl nor use headphones, you're paying for two full-fledged sections you'll never switch on.

Our verdict

A grown-up, honestly built amplifier with two full-strength extras instead of ten half-hearted ones. If you listen in analogue and value a tidy rack, you get a lot of amplifier for very little shelf space. Tell us about your room, your cartridge and your speakers, and we'll tell you whether the maths works out: HD Zürisee, Wädenswil — 044 680 22 00, WhatsApp 076 534 22 00 (text only, no calls), shop@hdzuerisee.ch.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate phono preamp as well?

No. The phono stage for MM and MC cartridges is already built in, including a switchable subsonic filter against footfall and warped records. The signal-to-noise ratio is 85 dB for MM and 65 dB for MC. Tell us which cartridge you want to run and we'll check the matching.

Is the AACento a pure Class A amplifier?

No. Audio Analogue specifies pure Class A only for the headphone amplifier, not for the power section. That runs without global negative feedback, off a 480 VA toroidal transformer. A switchable Class A concept across the whole chain is found in the larger ABsolute model.

Which sources can I connect?

Three unbalanced RCA sources, one balanced XLR source, and a turntable at the phono input. Digital sources need their own converter ahead of them, since the AACento has neither digital inputs nor a built-in DAC. A suitable external converter connects easily to one of the line-level inputs.

How much space does the AACento need?

It measures 445 × 92 × 400 mm and weighs 14 kg, so it fits a standard rack shelf. Factor the 40 cm depth plus connectors and cables into your measurements. A little airflow above doesn't hurt, and standby consumption stays under one watt.

Why buy the Pure AACento in Silver from HD Zürisee?

Because decades of practice have taught us which cartridges, headphones and speakers harmonise with an amplifier like this — and which don't. We deliver, install on-site on request, and stay in touch through our own technical department long after the purchase too.
