The Yamaha SR-C30A is a compact 2.1 soundbar system with a wireless subwoofer that noticeably upgrades your TV's sound in the smallest of spaces.
At just 60 cm wide, the bar slides under practically any TV, monitor, or onto a sideboard – and the separate wireless subwoofer supplies the foundation a flat-screen TV could never manage on its own. Small, uncomplicated, and surprisingly grown-up in sound.
Why the SR-C30A?
Because good TV sound shouldn't be limited by space. Two forward-firing drivers plus the wireless subwoofer turn thin TV audio into a clear, dynamic soundscape. Clear Voice brings out voices and dialogue – no more constantly reaching for the remote whenever someone whispers. And Adaptive Low Volume keeps the sound full and intelligible even late at night, without waking the neighbours.
What You Get
2.1 channels with 90 W Class D power, virtual surround sound, and four sound modes (Stereo, Standard, 3D Movie, Game). Game mode is tuned for close-range listening – at a desk next to a gaming monitor it sounds surprisingly big. Music streams via Bluetooth from your phone, and two smartphones can take turns without needing to re-pair. Connection is via a single cable over HDMI ARC, or alternatively optical or the 3.5mm input.
Who Is the SR-C30A For? (And Who Isn't It For – Straight Talk)
Ideal for TVs from around 32 to 50 inches, for the bedroom, a second TV, or the gaming corner – anywhere it should stay small and tidy. Straight talk: The SR-C30A can't do Dolby Atmos and doesn't stream over Wi-Fi – music comes via Bluetooth, not Spotify Connect or AirPlay. If you want genuine height channels or a big living-room home cinema, you're better served by the True X Bar 40A or 50A. For honestly good TV sound in a small space, this little unit is spot on.
Our Verdict
A charming minimalist: the SR-C30A solves the most common sound problem – thin, unintelligible TV audio – without cable clutter and without taking over half your living room. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we're happy to tell you whether the C30A suits your room or whether stepping up a size makes more sense.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the SR-C30A do Dolby Atmos?
No. The SR-C30A generates virtual surround sound from 2.1 channels, but not genuine Dolby Atmos with height channels. If you want 3D sound from above, we recommend the True X Bar 40A. For clear, punchy stereo and movie sound in a small space, the C30A is more than enough.
Is the subwoofer really wireless?
Yes. The subwoofer connects wirelessly to the soundbar and only needs a power outlet. You can place it standing or lying down, and its compact size lets you position it flexibly – handy when space is tight.
How do I connect the SR-C30A to my TV?
The easiest way is with an HDMI cable via HDMI ARC – one cable for the audio return channel and control via your TV remote. Alternatively, you can go digital optical or use the 3.5mm input. The matching HDMI cable is included.
