Yamaha R-N800A – Network Receiver with Room Correction
The R-N800A is the middle tier of the network receiver line-up, and the point where things get really interesting: here you get Yamaha's YPAO room correction, plus a stronger DAC and more power than the R-N600A. Amplifier, streamer, DAC and DAB+/FM tuner sit in one neatly built chassis.
Sound & Amplification
2× 100 W at 8 ohms (0.07% THD), 2× 120 W at 6 ohms, with dynamic headroom up to 290 W at 2 ohms. The ToP-ART construction with a low-impedance ground concept and thick ground wiring delivers a calm, controlled sound. Pure Direct bypasses all tone controls for the shortest possible signal path.
YPAO Room Correction
The supplied measurement microphone measures your room and automatically corrects reflection-related issues (YPAO-R.S.C.). Especially in less-than-ideal living rooms, this noticeably improves balance – without you having to touch an equalizer yourself.
Streaming & Sources
MusicCast delivers Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music HD, internet radio and multiroom, plus AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and LAN. The ESS SABRE ES9080Q converts up to DSD 11.2 MHz and PCM 384 kHz; the USB-DAC port (USB-B) connects your computer directly. For vinyl there's an MM phono input, and an optical input for your TV.
Straight talk – what you should know
The R-N800A still has no HDMI connection – HDMI-ARC only arrives with the R-N1000A. If you absolutely need to connect your TV via HDMI, its bigger sibling is the right choice. But for music, vinyl and TV sound via optical, the R-N800A is fully equipped.
