Yamaha NS-555 – 3-way floorstanding speaker from the EF series
The NS-555 is a proven 3-way floorstanding speaker from Yamaha's EF series – a versatile all-rounder that handles stereo and home cinema equally well, and its elliptical piano-lacquer shape looks the part too.
Sound & drivers
PMD woofers (Polymer Mica Diaphragm) deliver precise, controlled bass, while the waveguide tweeter horn focuses the highs and reduces distracting room reflections. High-quality Monster Cable internal wiring is fitted throughout.
EF design
The characteristic elliptical cabinet shape of the EF series is finished in the same piano lacquer Yamaha uses for its grand pianos – a speaker that stands out in the living room.
Straight talk – what you should know
The NS-555 is a solid all-rounder with strong value for money, especially for movie sound. Anyone after uncompromising stereo high-end sound is better served by the NS-600A/800A class. The piano lacquer looks elegant but needs regular care. It's a proven model from the older EF series, not current high-end.

Yes, the listed price is for a pair (two speakers) in piano lacquer black.
What's the difference between the NS-555 and NS-777?
The NS-777 is larger, with more diaphragm area and therefore deeper, more powerful bass. The NS-555 is more compact and more affordable.
Is the NS-555 suitable for home cinema?
Yes, it's a good all-rounder for movie sound and can be combined with the NS-C444 center speaker.
Which amplifier fits?
A mid-range amplifier is easily enough; in larger rooms a bit of extra headroom doesn't hurt.
Why buy the NS-555 at HD Zürisee?
Because we'll tell you honestly whether the proven NS-555 works well as an all-rounder for stereo and home cinema, or whether the larger NS-777 should fill more of the room. We've known the EF series well since 1997 and advise at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil on the right combination with center and surround speakers.
