Yamaha A-S501 – Integrated Amplifier with DAC and More Power
The A-S501 is the middle ToP-ART tier: the same well-thought-out analog engineering as the A-S301, but with more power and bigger reserves. With a built-in DAC, MM phono and subwoofer output, it covers vinyl, CD and TV sound in one device.
Sound & Amplification
2× 85 W at 8 ohms (0.019% THD), with dynamic headroom for more demanding speakers. ToP-ART with symmetrical I/O direct switching, the ART Base chassis and a generously sized power supply deliver a clean, controlled sound. Pure Direct shortens the signal path for maximum purity.
Digital & Sources
Optical and coaxial digital input with a built-in DAC up to 192 kHz/24-bit for your TV and Blu-ray player. Plus an MM phono input for your turntable, several line RCA inputs and a subwoofer output. Via the A/B speaker terminals you run two speaker pairs or wire bi-wire; the stepless loudness keeps the sound balanced at every volume.
Straight talk – what you should know
As with the A-S301: the A-S501 has digital inputs, but no streaming, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB. If you want built-in streaming, you're better served by the R-N600A or R-N800A network receiver. The phono input is MM (not MC). Compared to the A-S701, it lacks the gold-plated connectors and a bit of power – the sonic gap is small, and the extra cost pays off mainly with demanding speakers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Yamaha A-S501 have a DAC?
Yes. Via the optical and coaxial digital inputs, the built-in DAC converts up to 192 kHz/24-bit – for your TV and Blu-ray player.
What's the difference to the A-S301?
The A-S501 delivers more power (2× 85 instead of 2× 60 W at 8 ohms) and has a bigger power supply with more reserves. The features and operating concept are very similar.
Can I connect a turntable?
Yes, via the MM phono input. For MC cartridges you need an additional preamp or step-up transformer.
Can the A-S501 stream?
No. No Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB. For built-in streaming, the Yamaha R-N network receivers are the right choice.
