Yamaha A-S2200 – fully balanced High-End integrated amplifier
The A-S2200 is Yamaha's balanced High-End integrated amplifier, positioned right below the flagship A-S3200. Purely analog, with a fully balanced signal path throughout, an XLR input, a discrete MM/MC phono stage and the iconic illuminated level meters. An amplifier for vinyl and analog lovers who value sonic purity.
Sound & amplification
2× 90 W into 8 ohms (0.07% THD), 2× 150 W into 4 ohms, with a high damping factor (≥ 250). The entire signal path is fully balanced – combined with the "Floating Balanced" output stage, a large toroidal transformer and the "Mechanical Ground" concept, this results in a calm, high-resolution and powerful sound.
Connections & controls
A pair of balanced XLR inputs plus several unbalanced line RCA inputs and a tape loop. Discrete MM/MC phono input with switchable cartridge type. Pre-Out and Main-In allow bi-amping or use as a pure power amp. Two pairs of brass speaker terminals (A/B), a discrete headphone amplifier with level trim on the front, dimmable VU level meters and wood side panels.
Straight talk – what you should know
The A-S2200 is also consistently analog: no DAC, no streaming, no network function – you connect a digital source via an external DAC. The XLR connector is an input; there is no balanced output. The MC input impedance is fixed at the factory (not adjustable). Compared to the A-S1200, the balanced inputs and the fully balanced circuit are the real added value; the flagship A-S3200 goes a step further with even more power.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Yamaha A-S2200 have XLR inputs?
Yes. The A-S2200 has a pair of balanced XLR inputs and is fully balanced throughout. There is no balanced XLR output.
Does the A-S2200 have a DAC or streaming?
No. It's a purely analog amplifier. You connect digital sources via an external DAC.
Does the A-S2200 support MM and MC cartridges?
Yes, via a discretely built phono input with switchable MM/MC operation. The MC impedance is fixed at the factory.
What's the difference from the A-S1200?
The A-S2200 is fully balanced throughout, has an XLR input and a discrete headphone amplifier. The A-S1200 uses the same output stage technology but is unbalanced (RCA).
Why buy the A-S2200 at HD Zürisee?
Because a balanced XLR chain only makes sense when the source and amplifier truly match – that's exactly what we check with you at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil. Nearly three decades of experience with analog electronics help you avoid running the A-S2200 below its potential.
