The Vincent SV-200 is a compact hybrid integrated amplifier that combines a tube preamp stage, a transistor power stage and a built-in DAC in a half-width chassis.

Small in size, big in idea: two 6N1 tubes give the signal its warmth, the Class-AB output stage the control. So you get tube character and transistor composure in the same unit – in a 21-centimetre width that fits into practically any rack.

Why the Vincent SV-200?

Because it combines two worlds that usually sit separately on the shelf. The tube preamp stage delivers the warm, three-dimensional soundstage that tubes are loved for; the solid-state output stage supplies the dynamics and grip that pure tube amps often lack. The SV-200 is built on the SRPP principle, like its big brother the SV-700 – which keeps noise low and dynamics high.

Add to that a built-in DAC with coaxial and optical input: connect your TV, CD transport or streamer directly, with no extra box needed. Honestly – how often does "compact" mean compromise? Not so much here.

What you get

  • Hybrid concept: 2 × 6N1 tube preamp stage for warmth, Class-AB transistor output stage for control
  • 2 × 25 watts at 8 ohms, 2 × 35 watts at 4 ohms – enough for most bookshelf and many floorstanding speakers in a living room
  • Built-in DAC with coaxial and optical input for TV, CD transport or streamer
  • Two analogue RCA high-level inputs plus a regulated pre-out and a fixed rec-out
  • Half-width: only 21 cm wide, solid 5 kg chassis, remote control included

Who is the Vincent SV-200 suited for?

For anyone who wants tube warmth without having to look after a whole tube zoo – and who values a tidy, compact setup. Paired with efficient speakers in small to medium-sized rooms, it plays above its price class.

Honestly: you can't connect a turntable directly – there's no phono input, so you need a separate phono stage. And it isn't a streaming device: the DAC only accepts digital signals via cable, there's no network player or Bluetooth on board. If you want to drive large, power-hungry speakers really loud in a big room, one of the stronger siblings such as the SV-237 MK II or SV-700 suits you better.

Our verdict

The SV-200 proves that good ideas don't have to be big. It brings tube emotion, clean dynamics and a useful DAC into a chassis that never gets in the way – an honest entry into the Vincent world that's also a pleasure as a second system in a home office or bedroom. Reviews praise exactly this mix of playfulness and resolution (review at i-fidelity.net).

Frequently asked questions

Does the Vincent SV-200 need a separate DAC?
No. A DAC is already built in, with coaxial and optical digital input. You can connect a TV, CD transport or a streamer directly and digitally. Only if you prefer a particularly high-quality external converter would you use the analogue RCA inputs instead.

Can I connect a turntable?
Not directly – the SV-200 has no phono input. A separate phono stage belongs between turntable and amplifier. You'll find suitable phono preamps at Vincent too, for example from the PHO series, and we're happy to help you choose.

Is 2 × 25 watts enough for my living room?
Usually plenty for small to medium-sized rooms and efficient speakers. The wattage figure is deceptive: thanks to a stable power supply and Class-AB output stage, the SV-200 sounds punchier than the number suggests. For large rooms or quiet speakers, we'll advise you on the right combination.

Can the SV-200 stream or use Bluetooth?
No, there's no network player or Bluetooth built in. The DAC only processes digital signals via cable (coaxial or optical). For streaming, connect a separate streamer to one of the digital inputs – keeping you flexible about the source.
