Which cross-section should I choose?

As a rule of thumb: the longer the cable run and the lower the speaker impedance, the larger the cross-section should be. For short, standard runs, 1.5 mm² is usually enough; for long runs or 4-ohm speakers, 2.5 or 4.0 mm² is worthwhile.
