The Valvet E4 is a pair of Class-A monoblock power amplifiers in single-ended design, one chassis per channel.

Where the Valvet E3 houses both channels dual-mono in a single chassis, the E4 takes the final step: two completely independent monoblocks, each with its own 500 VA toroidal transformer, its own rectification via four ultra-fast 60 A individual diodes and its own filtering via four Supertech TTN electrolytic capacitors. The galvanic isolation of the channels is thus complete – no shared power supply for the channels to split.

Why the Valvet E4?

Because it carries the single-ended Class-A philosophy through to its logical conclusion: one power transistor per amplifier, short pure-silver signal paths, Furutech IEC mains inlets and WBT-NextGen connectors for RCA, XLR and speakers. Supplied as a pair, so both channels are identically built from the start – not two individual units put together at random.

What you hear

The same direct, harmonic signature as the E3 – but with even less mutual interference between the channels thanks to the separate chassis. At 12 and 20 watts per monoblock respectively, the E4 remains an amplifier for efficient speakers, not for raw wattage.

Who is the E4 suited for – and who isn't it for?

Straight talk: the E4 is for anyone who wants to push the E3's sound to its ultimate consequence and is willing to accept two chassis instead of one in the rack. On efficient speakers (from about 89 dB), it plays to its strengths; on hard-to-drive compact speakers, 12/20 watts gets tight – there, the push-pull models A4.5 or A4e are the more consistent choice.

Our verdict

The E4 is the E3 without compromise on the chassis – two completely independent monoblocks for anyone who wants maximum channel separation. Tell us which speakers and which room you're working with, and together we'll clarify whether the E4 or rather a push-pull model suits you.

Frequently asked questions

Why monoblocks instead of a stereo amplifier like the E3?

Two completely independent chassis, each with its own power supply, fully separate the channels – no shared transformer, no shared filtering. This is the ultimate consequence of the single-ended principle that the E3 already hints at within a stereo chassis.

Which speakers suit the E4?

As with the E3: from about 89 dB efficiency upward, the E4 plays to its strengths. At 12/20 watts per monoblock, it isn't an amplifier for hard-to-drive compact speakers.

What distinguishes the E4 from the A4.5?

The E4 works in single-ended design with one transistor per amplifier and delivers 12/20 watts; the A4.5 works in push-pull design with a transistor pair and delivers 60/100 watts. Both are Class-A monoblocks but differ clearly in power and sonic character.

Is the E4 sold as a pair or individually?

As a pair – two identically built monoblocks for left and right. This way both channels are identically constructed and calibrated from the start.

Why buy the Valvet E4 at HD Zürisee?

Because monoblocks only show their full potential with the right preamp and matching speakers. We advise you in Wädenswil on the system combination and handle installation with our own technician.

Goes well with: matching preamplifiers, efficient bookshelf speakers and the right cables.
