The Valvet A4e is the flagship pair among Valvet's Class-A mono power amplifiers, with external power supplies and active inrush current limiting.
Like the A4.5, the A4e runs in push-pull design, but goes a step further with its power supply: instead of the internal 500 VA transformer, each monoblock brings its own external power supply with an 800 VA transformer – stepped up from 500 VA since July 2023. Active inrush current limiting tames the switch-on surge that a transformer of this size would otherwise cause.
Why the Valvet A4e?
Because it offers the biggest power reserve and the most elaborate power supply in the Valvet lineup: 65 watts at 8 ohms, 105 watts at 4 ohms, plus 176,000 µF of filter capacitance per monoblock. The external power supplies sit separate from the amplifier housings, keeping transformer stray fields and amplifier electronics cleanly apart. A carbon lid and Furutech rhodium mains inlets round out the equipment.
What you hear
The same Class-A calm as the A4.5, but with noticeably more control and drive in dynamic passages – the generously sized, separate power supply pays off especially with demanding speaker loads.
Who is the A4e suited for – and who isn't it for?
Straight talk: the A4e is for anyone who wants the maximum power reserve and power-supply effort the Valvet range offers, and is willing to wait for factory production in return. If you want faster delivery or are already happy with the A4.5's power, you save the surcharge and the wait and stick with the A4.5. If you run very demanding or large speakers, on the other hand, you'll benefit from the A4e's extra reserve.
Our verdict
The flagship of the Valvet power amps for anyone who won't compromise on power supply. Tell us which speakers and which room you're working with, and we'll tell you honestly whether the surcharge and longer delivery time over the A4.5 are worth it for you.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the A4e have external power supplies?
So that the generously sized 800 VA transformer stays physically and electrically separate from the sensitive amplifier electronics. This reduces stray fields and allows even more generous filtering with 176,000 µF per monoblock.
How long does delivery take?
The A4e is built to order in Germany; delivery time is approx. 3 months from the order date. We'll let you know as soon as we've placed your order and what the schedule looks like.
What's the difference between the A4e and the A4.5?
The A4e delivers more power (65/105 instead of 60/100 watts), brings external instead of internal power supplies with a larger 800 VA transformer and inrush current limiting, and has a carbon lid. In return, it's more expensive and has a longer delivery time.
Is bi-wiring possible with the A4e?
Yes, for a surcharge, the WBT NextGen speaker terminals are set up for bi-wiring. That lets you wire speakers with separate tweeter and woofer connections directly.
Why buy the Valvet A4e from HD Zürisee?
Because the surcharge over the A4.5 is only worth it if your speakers and your room actually need the extra reserve. We'll advise you honestly in Wädenswil, order from Valvet, and handle the installation with our own technician.
Goes well with: matching preamplifiers, floorstanding speakers and the right cables.
