The Technics SL-1200MK7 is a direct-drive turntable with an ironless coreless motor that fundamentally renews the legendary SL-1200 line in its seventh generation.

The ironless coreless motor runs without cogging, the digital torque and brake control can be adjusted in four steps, and with 78 rpm as well as reverse play, the MK7 generation offers two features that never existed in the SL-1200 range before. Add to that an illuminated tonearm lift for cueing up in the dark and detachable, gold-plated connection cables for later upgrades.

What you hear and get

Calm and control. The direct drive keeps the speed stable, the bass stays firm, and the pitch fader (±8% / ±16%) reacts precisely rather than erratically. Who is the SL-1200MK7 suited for? (and who it isn't – plain talk)

Plain talk: the MK7 is for anyone who wants the Technics name and DJ features without switching straight to the Grand Class price bracket. What you should know: a cartridge and phono preamp aren't included. If you're after maximum speed stability and the finest tonearm mechanics, you'll find that more with the SL-1200GR2; if you only listen at home occasionally and never think about pitch or reverse, you might be paying there for features you don't need.

What's the difference between the SL-1200MK7 and SL-1210MK7?
Technically both are identical – same coreless direct drive, same tonearm, same features. The naming comes from different markets: SL-1200 is the internationally common name, SL-1210 the DJ designation established in Europe. For us they mainly differ in colour – silver for the 1200, black for the 1210.

Does the SL-1200MK7 come with a cartridge?
No. The SL-1200MK7 comes with a headshell, but without a mounted cartridge – so you choose the system that suits your sonic taste and budget. We're happy to mount and align it for you to match.

Is the SL-1200MK7 suited for DJing?
