The Sonoro Orchestra Gen. 2 are compact 2-way bass-reflex speakers with an Air Motion Transformer in a wave guide – the passive speaker companion to the Maestro receiver. They're for anyone who wants big, precise stereo sound from a slim cabinet, without a box dominating the room.

Why the Orchestra Gen. 2?

Because they pack Sonoro design and genuine hi-fi sound into a remarkably compact pair. In the treble, an Air Motion Transformer embedded in a wave guide delivers silky, detailed highs; below it, a 6-inch mid-bass driver with dual magnet and die-cast basket provides tight, powerful bass. The HDF cabinet with internal bracing and non-parallel walls keeps resonances low. Sonically they fill even larger rooms; visually they blend in elegantly thanks to their hand-sanded wooden cabinet and aluminium details.

What you hear and get

A clearly localised, cleanly layered stereo image with surprisingly more substance than the cabinet size suggests. The flush-mounted drivers (no visible screws) and magnetically attached fabric covers make them a subtle eye-catcher. The high-quality screw terminal gives a low-loss connection to the amplifier. Paired with the Sonoro Maestro (Quantum), they form a compact, fully integrated system; on the matching Orchestra Stand, they sit at perfect ear height.

Who are the Orchestra Gen. 2 suited for – and who aren't they for?

Ideal as a compact speaker pair for small to larger living rooms, especially paired with a Sonoro receiver. They need an amplifier with 50–170 watts at 4 ohms. Honest take: if you want uncompromising deep bass for large rooms or home cinema levels, look at the Orchestra Shaped Signature (floorstanding speakers) instead. But for stylish, precise stereo sound on a manageable footprint, the Gen. 2 are ideal.

Our verdict

Compact speakers with AMT treble that combine design and sound with real skill – the natural companion to the Maestro. Tell us which amplifier and how much space you have, and we'll tell you honestly whether the Gen. 2, the Slim or the larger Shaped Signature is right for you. Frequently asked questions

Are the Orchestra Gen. 2 sold individually or as a pair?

The price is per pair – you receive both speakers for classic stereo in one delivery. The included items (two cabinets, covers, plugs) are likewise supplied as a pair.

Which amplifier suits them?

50–170 watts at 4 ohms is recommended. The natural pairing is the Sonoro Maestro (Quantum); in principle, any stable stereo amplifier in this power class will suit them. We're happy to advise you on the right pairing.

Do they need stands?

For the best soundstage and bass tuning, the tweeters should sit at ear height – the matching Orchestra Stand is made for that. Sturdy shelves or other stands work too; a bit of distance from the rear wall benefits the sound.

Why buy the Sonoro Orchestra Gen. 2 at HD Zürisee?

Because placement and amplifier match determine the sound – we advise you, deliver and, if needed, set them up. Our own technician, honest advice, including on stands and cabling.
