The REL Planar PL-1 is an extremely flat subwoofer from the Planar Series, built for wall or under-furniture mounting in rooms where a classic floorstanding subwoofer simply doesn't fit.

Why the REL Planar PL-1?

At just around 14.4 cm deep, the Planar PL-1 uses REL's Boundary-Effect-Coupling: the wall deliberately becomes part of the acoustic system, allowing surprisingly deep bass despite the slim design. The driver pair (active 2× 6.5" FibreAlloy front + passive 10" FibreAlloy rear) is driven by a pure Class D amplifier.

What you hear

Despite its flat design, the Planar PL-1 delivers noticeable, well-contoured deep bass that comes remarkably close to classic floorstanding subwoofers. Equally suited to music and home cinema, especially in places where a normal subwoofer simply couldn't be placed.

Who is the REL Planar PL-1 suited for?

The Planar PL-1 is the right choice when wall or furniture mounting is the only option for reasons of space or looks. Honestly: if you can place a subwoofer freely in the room, a classic T or S model often gets you a bit more depth for comparable money – the Planar Series trades a small compromise for its extreme flatness.
