The Rega RB3000 is the original tonearm of the Planar 10: a completely redesigned, hand-polished armtube and bearings fitted adhesive-free by interference fit make Rega's most advanced production tonearm to date.
Why the RB3000?
With the RB3000, Rega deliberately does without adhesive joints – components are instead assembled by interference fit, which avoids extra interfaces and therefore uncontrolled energy reflections. The armtube was completely redesigned to redistribute mass deliberately and further reduce stress and resonance. Consistent lightweight construction with maximum rigidity in every critical area.
What you'll hear
An enormously calm, highly resolving sound with minimal mechanical self-resonance – the tonearm steps completely out of the way of the music signal and lets high-quality cartridges like the Apheta 3 or Aphelion 2 unfold their full potential.
Who is the RB3000 for? (and who isn't it for)
For Planar 10 owners whose original tonearm needs replacing, and for ambitious upgraders with a compatible RB-mount deck and a system at a corresponding level. Straight talk: on a Planar 3 or 6, the RB3000's potential remains limited by the deck and motor – here you're paying for headroom you can't actually use.
Our verdict
Rega's tonearm engineering at its current peak – the reference tonearm of the Planar 10. If the rest of your system is at this level, you genuinely get audibly more here.

Frequently asked questions
Which turntable is the RB3000 designed for?
The RB3000 is the original tonearm of the Planar 10 – Rega's most advanced production tonearm, built without adhesive, with extremely tight manufacturing tolerances.
Why does Rega avoid adhesive on the RB3000?
Adhesive joints create extra interfaces where energy can be reflected uncontrollably. The RB3000's components are manufactured so precisely that they're assembled by interference fit – for maximum mechanical rigidity.
Which cartridge suits the RB3000?
The cartridge is sold separately; Rega typically recommends the Apheta 3 or Aphelion 2 for the Planar 10, though most MC and MM cartridges with a suitable compliance are fundamentally compatible.
