Is the Aphelion 2 cartridge fitted at the factory?

No. The Aphelion 2 is included unmounted. We professionally fit it onto the RB3000 tonearm at HD Zürisee and align tracking force, azimuth and anti-skate down to the millimeter – with a cartridge in this class, that precision is exactly what decides the sound.

What's the difference between the SE 2 and the SE 1?

The cartridge. Both use the Planar 10 and the AOS phono stage; the SE 2 comes with the Aphelion 2, Rega's flagship model, the SE 1 with the Apheta 3. The SE 2 resolves even finer detail and is the uncompromising top variant – at the price to match.

Do I also need an amplifier?

Yes. Included are the turntable, cartridge and phono stage. The AOS outputs a line-level signal that fits any amplifier with a high-level input. Amplifier and speakers are separate – we'll put together the right chain at this level for you.
