Rega Ania MC Cartridge

The Rega Ania is a moving-coil cartridge with an elliptical diamond and aluminium cantilever, Rega's entry into the MC world for the Planar 3, 6 and 8.

With the Ania, Rega began its own MC production – hand-wound coils on an iron cross-armature, mounted in an aluminium housing with the typical Rega 3-point mounting. The sonic character is typically MC: more dynamics and fine detail than MM, but it needs a suitable MC-capable phono input.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a special phono preamp for the Ania?

Yes, the Ania is an MC cartridge and needs an MC-capable phono input, such as the Rega Fono MC MK4 or Aos. A plain MM input isn't enough.

Is the Ania audibly better than an Nd7?

Different, not necessarily better: the Ania brings the typical MC character with more dynamics, the Nd7 stays easier to handle and needs no MC phono input. We're happy to listen to both together with you.
