The Raidho X2t is a slim 2.5-way floorstanding speaker with a Raidho ribbon tweeter and two tantalum-coated Ceramix drivers.

Slim as a CD case, big in presence: the X2t is Raidho's answer to the question of whether a discreet floorstanding speaker can also be a true high-ender. "X stands for eXtreme performance for the price," says Raidho itself – meaning technology from significantly more expensive series, packed into a surprisingly living-room-friendly column. From Denmark, at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil.

Why the X2t?

Up top sits the handcrafted Raidho ribbon tweeter – the same design used in the five-figure TD models: an 11-micron-thin foil, fifty times lighter than a dome tweeter, practically resonance-free. Below it, two 13 cm Ceramix drivers with tantalum coating (the "t" in the name) do the work: tantalum stiffens the diaphragm and pushes resonances far upward, drastically reducing distortion. The 2.5-way architecture is typical Raidho: both drivers deliver bass, but only the upper one also handles the midrange – producing a coherent, unified sound from top to bottom. Inside sits a hand-wired crossover with Nordost cabling; the speaker couples to the floor via steel balls in the feet, with no spikes at all. The cabinet, tapered toward the rear, suppresses standing waves inside.

What you hear

A large, free-standing stage, a deep black background, instruments and voices detached from the speakers. The X2t sounds open and effortless, yet precise down to the finest nuances. Despite its slim build, the bass reaches down with authority (Raidho quotes 40 Hz) – controlled, not bloated.

Who is the X2t for?

For anyone who wants to combine high-end sound with slim, elegant design – ideal for small to medium rooms where a bulky floorstander would be too dominant. If you know and love the X1t, you get the same sonic ideal here with more foundation and stability.

Straight talk: the X2t wants power. Its 87 dB sensitivity sounds forgiving, but the impedance curve (nominal 4 ohms) demands a strong, current-stable amplifier – a weak entry-level unit will hold it back. And at very quiet "night-time" levels it stays a bit reserved; it likes to be pushed. For huge rooms or uncompromising deep bass, the way leads to the larger TD series.

Our verdict

The X2t is one of the most elegant ways to bring genuine Raidho high-end into the living room without the speakers overwhelming the space. On a potent amplifier and with some distance from the wall, this slim column plays surprisingly big, open, and mature. The trade press has reviewed the X2t widely and positively (including Hifi Pig, 2023; Fidelity, 2026).

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the X2t and the X1t?

The X2t is the floorstanding version of the compact X1t monitor – same sonic ideal, same ribbon tweeter, but with two tantalum drivers instead of one and a full-grown bass foundation (40 Hz instead of 70 Hz). It needs no stand and stands freely in the room.

What amplifier does the X2t need?

A strong, current-stable one. While the 87 dB sensitivity seems forgiving, the impedance (nominal 4 ohms) demands an amplifier with decent current delivery; Raidho quotes 50 to 300 watts. With a composed amplifier, the X2t plays noticeably more freely – we'll help you find the right match.

How large should the room be?

The X2t feels at home in small to medium rooms. More important than square meters is the distance from the wall: give it room to breathe at the back (ideally over a meter), so the bass and lower midrange can breathe freely. We're happy to help you with placement in your room.

What does the "t" in X2t mean?

The "t" stands for tantalum. The two Ceramix woofers are coated with this extremely hard metal, which stiffens the diaphragm and pushes resonances upward. That lowers distortion and delivers the clean, natural sound that Raidho's "t" models stand for.

Does the X2t need spikes?

No. Coupling to the floor is via steel balls integrated into the feet – spikes aren't necessary. That makes it noticeably easier to align on smooth floors and parquet without risking scratches.

Why buy the Raidho X2t at HD Zürisee?
