The Raidho X1t is a compact 2-way bookshelf speaker that combines a ribbon tweeter with a Tantalum-coated ceramic driver.
Small, but with attitude: the X1t is Raidho's answer to the question of how much genuine high-end fits into a cabinet the size of a shoebox. The answer surprises even people who have heard a lot already. Developed and built in Denmark, arrived at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil.
Why the X1t?
Two things define it. First, the legendary Raidho ribbon tweeter: a wafer-thin foil (around 11 microns, 20 milligrams), roughly fifty times lighter than a classic dome tweeter. Less mass means less resonance of its own – as Raidho likes to put it, this tweeter simply leaves no fingerprint on the sound. Second, the 13 cm Ceramix driver with Tantalum coating (the "t" in the name): tantalum is one of the hardest metals there is, stiffening the diaphragm and pushing resonances far up the frequency range. That keeps the bass/midrange precise where others have long since turned mushy. The bass reflex port on the front of the cabinet also allows fairly close-to-wall placement.
What you hear
Openness and transparency you'd barely expect from such a compact speaker. The X1t draws a wide, precise soundstage, resolves the finest details and stays unobtrusive while doing it – no sugar-coating, no treble sizzle. Voices stand tangibly in the room; spatial imaging is this little monitor's great strength. In the bass it goes surprisingly deep for its size – though you shouldn't expect miracles of physics from a 13 cm driver.
Who is the X1t suited for?
Ideal for small to medium-sized rooms (Raidho recommends up to around 25 square metres for full bass), for near-field and studio use, and for anyone who values honest transparency over effect-bass. Its close-to-wall placement also suits spots where a large floorstanding speaker would be too much.
Bottom line: anyone wanting to fill a large room or feel deep sub-bass in their trouser legs is in the wrong place here – then a look at the X2t, the TD series or an added subwoofer pays off. And the X1t isn't a party blaster but a fine-detail artist. Hook it up to an underpowered amplifier and you'll waste its potential.
Our verdict
The X1t proves that size and sound aren't the same thing. Once you've heard how this little Dane unfolds space and fine dynamics, you'll stop thinking of it as "just a bookshelf speaker". The specialist press received it warmly (among others, Hifi Pig, 2022). On a stable stand and with a decent amplifier, it plays well above its weight class.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Raidho X1t need a stand?
Yes. As a bookshelf speaker, the X1t only unfolds its potential on a stable, low-mass stand at ear height. Raidho offers a matching X1t stand in black and white for this. A wobbly shelf or sideboard costs you precision and soundstage calm – with a stand, quality is worth it.
How large can the room be for the X1t?
The X1t is ideal for small to medium-sized rooms. Raidho recommends a room size up to around 25 square metres for full, balanced bass. In larger rooms it still sounds very good, only the deep bass becomes more restrained. For large rooms, the X2t, the TD series or a subwoofer are the better choice.
Which amplifier suits the X1t?
A clean-sounding amplifier from around 50 watts is enough. With 85 dB sensitivity and an impedance above 6 ohms, the X1t isn't power-hungry, but it rewards quality and a bit of power reserve with more composure. High-quality tube amplifiers also harmonise well – we're happy to help with the right combination.
What does the "t" in X1t mean?
The "t" stands for Tantalum. The X1t's ceramic driver is coated with this extremely hard metal, which stiffens the diaphragm and pushes resonances far up the frequency range. That reduces distortion and delivers the clean, precise sound – the audible step forward from the classic X1.
What's the difference between the X1t and the X1.6?
Both share Raidho's ribbon tweeter but are designed differently. The X1t is the especially compact mini-monitor with a focus on precision and placement flexibility. The larger X1.6 draws a bit more level and depth from its larger cabinet volume. Which fits better depends on the room and your listening habits – just ask us.
