The Raidho TD3.8 is a passive 3-way floorstanding speaker with a Raidho ribbon tweeter, two 13 cm Tantalum-Diamond midrange drivers and two 20 cm Tantalum-Diamond woofers, handmade in Denmark.
Where the TD3.2 has one midrange driver, the TD3.8 treats itself to two – both flanking the ribbon tweeter, while below them two 20 cm drivers move air rather than just wiggle it. This isn't a scaled-up TD3.2, but its own league: 1.42 metres tall, 83 kilos apiece.
Why the TD3.8?
The TD3.8 is built for the large room that smaller models eventually stop filling. Two Tantalum-Diamond midrange drivers flank the ribbon tweeter and focus the midrange right where you sit – this keeps imaging stable and takes some of the room's own character out of the equation. Below them, two 20 cm woofers work on a foundation that reaches down to 24 Hz.
The tweeter is the same in-house ribbon type found throughout the TD series: an 11-micron-thin foil, virtually massless, with no tonal signature of its own in the treble. Decoupling is handled by ceramic balls in the feet – no spikes needed. Force it into a small room and, in the end, you'll mostly hear the room, not the TD3.8.
What you hear
Scale with control. The TD3.8 builds a wide, deep soundstage and places voices and instruments in the room with an effortlessness that smaller boxes only reach at half the volume. The two 20 cm drivers deliver bass that carries and stays structured instead of booming. From an intimate trio to full orchestral weight it stays composed – it gets loud without ever sounding strained, and shows you honestly what the recording has to offer.
Who is the TD3.8 suited for?
For large rooms and for anyone who wants uncompromising high-end sound with real depth and no subwoofer. Bottom line: the TD3.8 is not a piece of furniture you buy on a whim. It needs space, distance from the wall and an amplifier that handles its 6 ohms confidently – with too weak a drive or too small a room, you give away exactly what it's built for. If you're playing medium-sized rooms, the TD3.2 is the more coherent and more affordable choice.
Our verdict
The TD3.8 is the jump from "very good" to "uncompromising": more drivers, more surface area, more depth, the same honest character of the TD series. It demands a room that can match it and a system on the same level – and rewards you with an effortlessness that's addictive. Danish craftsmanship at this level has its price; the TD3.8 justifies it with every note.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the TD3.8 and the TD3.2?
The TD3.8 is the significantly larger floorstander: two midrange drivers instead of one, two 20 cm woofers instead of three 16.5 cm drivers, and depth down to 24 Hz. At 83 kilos and 1.42 metres, it's built for large rooms. The TD3.2 remains the right choice for medium-sized rooms.
Which amplifier suits the TD3.8?
A powerful, stable amplifier with roughly 50 to 300 watts at 6 ohms. With 89 dB sensitivity it's reasonably easy to drive, but it rewards amplifiers with current and control, especially in the deep bass. Whether high-quality solid-state or tube – we're happy to advise on the right match for your system.
What room size suits the TD3.8?
Large rooms. Only there can it truly unfold its depth and its two 20 cm drivers. In small to medium-sized rooms it quickly becomes too dominant – the TD3.2 is then the more coherent choice. Sufficient distance from the rear wall is assumed.
How deep does the TD3.8 go – does it need a subwoofer?
No, it doesn't need a subwoofer. Two 20 cm woofers take it down to 24 Hz – with authority and contour, without becoming bloated. In large living rooms it delivers a foundation you feel more than hear. Only with home cinema ambitions is a conversation about adding one worthwhile.
Does the TD3.8 need spikes or a special surface?
No, spikes aren't necessary. The TD3.8 is decoupled from the floor via ceramic balls in the feet. It needs a level, load-bearing surface and distance from the wall. At 83 kilos per speaker, we're best placed to handle delivery and setup – that's exactly what our technician is there for.
