The Panasonic TV-65Z90BEK is a 2025-generation 65-inch OLED TV with a Master OLED Pro panel, HCX Pro AI Processor MK II and Dynamic Theater Surround Pro – the model right below the Z95 flagship.

In plain terms: almost all of Panasonic's picture artistry, but at a price that won't make you wince twice.

Why the Z90BEK?

The Master OLED Pro panel delivers exactly what cinephiles love OLED for: a pixel-precise, fully switchable-off absolute black, from which colors and highlights appear all the more three-dimensional. The fine-tuning is handled by the HCX Pro AI Processor MK II, which uses Auto AI to recognize whether sport, a concert film or a late-night thriller is playing, and adjusts picture and sound accordingly.

The Z90BEK doesn't get the big brightness jump of the Primary RGB Tandem panel found in the Z95BEK – but it also costs noticeably less. In a dimmed to normally bright living room you'll rarely see the difference; only in blazing sunlight does the bigger sibling show off its brightness.

What you see and hear

Picture: reference-close colors, deep black and – thanks to up to 144 Hz, HDMI 2.1, VRR and G-Sync compatibility – a rock-solid gaming base. Filmmaker Mode and Dolby Vision IQ make sure everything looks the way it was meant to.

Sound: the Dynamic Theater Surround Pro with built-in subwoofer and Dolby Atmos sounds fuller than you'd expect from a flat panel. For everyday use that's plenty in most rooms, with no extra box required. It's controlled via Fire TV, with Alexa, Apple AirPlay and Apple Home.

Who is the Z90BEK right for – and who isn't it for?

The right choice if you want OLED picture quality but don't want to stretch your budget to the Z95 flagship – and if your living room isn't a south-facing wall of glass.

Straight talk: if you need the TV to hold its own against direct sunlight during the day, you're better off with the brighter Z95BEK. And if you already run a big surround system, you're paying somewhat twice for the built-in sound system here. For everyone else, the Z90BEK is the sensible sweet spot.

Our verdict

The Z90BEK is the TV for people who want 90 percent of the flagship and would rather keep the last ten percent in their wallet. The 48-inch variant of the Z90B series won a What Hi-Fi? Award in 2025 (best premium TV in the 48-to-50-inch class) and five stars – our 65-inch model uses the same Master OLED Pro panel and the same picture tuning. A very grown-up recommendation.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the Z90B and the Z95B?
The Z95B uses a brighter Primary RGB Tandem panel, the Z90B uses Master OLED Pro. In processor, gaming features and Fire TV they're nearly identical. The Z90B is cheaper and, in a normal living room, barely distinguishable from the flagship; in a very bright room the Z95B has the edge.

Do I need a soundbar with the Z90BEK?
Not in most living rooms. The Dynamic Theater Surround Pro with built-in subwoofer and Dolby Atmos delivers full, room-filling sound straight out of the TV. A soundbar or system is an option for large rooms, but not a requirement.

Is the Z90BEK suitable for the PS5 and gaming?
Yes. With up to 144 Hz, two HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR, ALLM, NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility and AMD FreeSync Premium, it's well equipped. Game Mode Extreme keeps latency low – ideal for current consoles and gaming PCs.

Do I need a paid subscription for the Z90BEK?
No. Via Fire TV you can use free apps, catch-up services and internet radio, play local files or stream via AirPlay from your iPhone. Paid streaming services are an option, not a requirement.

Is the Panasonic Z90BEK still available?
Yes, while our stock lasts. The model is being phased out in the Swiss market but remains available from us. Ask us briefly about current availability before you order – we'll tell you honestly what's what.

Why buy the Panasonic Z90BEK from HD Zürisee?
Because we help you spend your money in the right place instead of blindly selling you the most expensive model. We advise on room, lighting situation and matching speakers, deliver and install on site on request, and with Mauri we have our own technician on hand. You can reach us in Wädenswil, by phone or WhatsApp.

Goes well with

Around the TV it's worth looking at home cinema and matching speakers if you're thinking bigger, as well as good cables for the HDMI 2.1 signal. Still unsure about the size? A side-by-side comparison with more TVs helps.
