Ortofon Stylus 540 MK II Replacement Stylus

The Ortofon Stylus 540 MK II is the top model of the 300&500 series – a nude FG 70 diamond (Fritz Gyger 70) for the 540 MkII, 540 and Mojo series, delivering the highest level of detail this body can produce.

Why this replacement stylus?

The Fritz Gyger 70 cut is one of the most demanding stylus shapes there is: a very large, precise contact area with the groove combined with minimal wear.

What you'll hear

A noticeable gain in fine detail, soundstage and overall calm in the presentation – provided your tonearm and alignment are up to the task.

Who it's for (plain talk)

For experienced listeners who want to push the 540 or Mojo body to the limit. At this price, it's worth a consultation on whether a complete new cartridge would be the better investment.

Our verdict

The pinnacle of the 300&500 series – only worthwhile with a tonearm that can do it justice.
