Ortofon LH-9000 Headshell

The Ortofon LH-9000 is the premium headshell made of magnesium with carbon fiber – built for high-end MC cartridges like the MC A95, MC Diamond, MC Windfeld Ti and the Cadenza series.

Why this headshell?

The combination of magnesium and carbon fiber resin is specifically engineered for resonance suppression – with cartridges in this price class, a low-resonance headshell isn't a luxury, it's part of the sound chain. The black carbon look also underlines the premium claim visually.

What you'll hear

Fewer mechanically induced colorations and a calmer, clearer reproduction from high-resolution MC cartridges – provided the tonearm and alignment are up to the task as well.

Who it's for (plain talk)

For owners of a high-end MC cartridge like the MC A95, MC Diamond, MC Windfeld Ti or Cadenza who want to give it an equally worthy home. For entry-level cartridges, the premium over the LH-6000 doesn't make sense.

Our verdict

The consistent finish for a top-tier cartridge – here the whole package is right, not just one component.
