The Ortofon Concorde MKII Digital isn't a digital cartridge in the literal sense, but a DJ system optimised for timecode vinyl that noticeably extends the life of your control records.

Why the Concorde MKII Digital?

If you DJ with Traktor, Serato or other DVS software, you're using timecode vinyl instead of real music – and these control records wear out faster with standard cartridges than you'd think. The MKII Digital is built exactly for that: a higher output voltage for a cleaner signal-to-noise ratio, a frequency response optimised for the crucial 1–2 kHz range, and an upper bandwidth limit that reduces vinyl wear.

What you'll hear (or rather, what your interface will see)

A more stable, cleaner timecode signal with fewer dropouts and misreads – especially noticeable during scratching and intense cue switching.

Who it's for (straight talk)

Intended purely for DVS timecode use, not for normal vinyl playback – that's what the classic Concorde MKII models are for. If you work a lot with timecode records, this system will noticeably extend their lifespan.

Our verdict

A specialist tool that does exactly what it's built for – if you use DVS seriously, this isn't the place to cut corners.

Frequently asked questions

Is the MKII Digital suitable for normal records?
Technically playable, but not optimised for it – the limited frequency response and high tracking force are specifically designed for timecode vinyl, not for music enjoyment.

What does "Digital" mean in the name?
No digital signal conversion – it refers to optimisation for digital vinyl systems (DVS) like Traktor or Serato that use timecode control records.

How long does a timecode record last with this?
Considerably longer than with a standard cartridge, since tracking force and frequency response are specifically designed to spare the control groove.

Why buy the Concorde MKII Digital from HD Zürisee?
Our specialist team knows DJ setups just as well as hi-fi systems, and advises you on the right combination of tonearm, cartridge and software.
