Ortofon Concorde 5S MM Cartridge

The Ortofon Concorde 5S is a moving-magnet cartridge with a spherical stylus in the Concorde design – body and headshell cast as one, mounted without tools and without any alignment needed.

Why the Concorde 5S?

As with the 5E, alignment is entirely eliminated on the 5S: overhang and azimuth are correct from the factory, you simply clip the cartridge onto the bayonet connection. The spherical stylus is the more robust, more forgiving choice – ideal for everyday use.

What you'll hear

Warm and unfussy, with solid channel separation. The 5S doesn't push itself forward sonically – it just plays reliably, a good all-rounder for Concorde tonearms.

Who it's for (straight talk)

For anyone with a bayonet tonearm who wants an uncomplicated entry point without any alignment effort. If you want finer detail resolution, go for the Concorde 5E with its elliptical stylus.

Our verdict

The honest entry into the Concorde world – robust, uncomplicated, fair in price.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to align the Concorde 5S?
No, the fixed body-headshell design is correctly aligned at the factory – just clip it on.

What's the difference to the Concorde 5E?
The 5S has a spherical instead of an elliptical stylus – more robust in handling, while the 5E resolves a little more finely.

Does the Concorde 5S fit my tonearm?
Only with a bayonet/SME Concorde connection. If unsure, send us a photo of your tonearm.

Why buy the Concorde 5S from HD Zürisee?
We check compatibility beforehand and advise you on the right tracking force – in person, not just from a data sheet.
