Why the Stream 9X?

At its heart is the SRC chip (Sampling Rate Converter): it takes the digital input signal and polishes it via upsampling to up to 768 kilohertz or DSD256 before outputting it with low jitter. It's a bit like running an old, grainy photo through software that redraws every detail razor-sharp. While many streamers throw in the towel at 192 kilohertz, the NuPrime is only just getting started.

Does the Stream 9X have a built-in amplifier or DAC?
No. The Stream 9X is a pure network streamer with exclusively digital outputs (I2S, AES/EBU, optical, coaxial). It needs a separate D/A converter and amplification. In return, its internal SRC chip upgrades your signal via upsampling to up to 768 kilohertz.

Can the Stream 9X also upgrade older digital sources?
Yes. Via the optical and coaxial inputs you can connect, say, an old CD player. The internal SRC chip upsamples this signal too and passes it on to your converter with low jitter – an affordable way to bring existing devices sonically into the present.

Which streaming services and protocols does the Stream 9X support?
AirPlay 2, Google Cast, DLNA, and Roon Ready, as well as Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Qobuz Connect. Google Cast allows high-resolution streaming up to 96 kilohertz/24-bit. Local network files and internet radio also work – no paid subscription required.

Does the Stream 9X send Bluetooth to headphones?
No. Straight talk: it receives Bluetooth (with aptX HD) from your phone, but doesn't transmit anything to headphones. It's a receiving station for your stationary system. If you only want to supply wireless headphones, the Stream 9X is the wrong address.
