Couldn't load pickup availability
The NAD PP 4 is a phono preamp with a USB output that connects a turntable to any amplifier and digitizes vinyl directly on your computer.
It's the clever two-in-one solution for vinyl fans: listening and archiving in a single device. Because some records simply aren't available to stream anywhere - so you make them yourself.
Why the PP 4?
Because it can do two things. First, a clean phono stage for MM and MC cartridges with precise RIAA equalization (±0.3 dB) and a subsonic filter. Second, a built-in A/D converter with USB output (16-bit / 48 kHz) plus a shielded USB cable and a recording level control - letting you transfer records and cassettes to your PC or Mac with low noise. The included VinylStudio Lite software splits tracks and builds a tidy music library.
What you hear / get
Detailed, balanced vinyl sound - and the freedom to preserve your collection. The extra line input also lets you digitize a cassette deck and the like. Unpack, connect, get started.
Who is the PP 4 suited for? (and who isn't it for)
Ideal for anyone who wants to bring their records (and tapes) onto the computer while still listening well. Plain talk: if you only want to listen and not digitize, the more affordable PP 2e does just as well. And don't expect 24-bit hi-res archiving from the PP 4 - it records at 16-bit / 48 kHz, clean and suitable for everyday use.
Our verdict
A practical two-in-one solution at a fair price: a good phono stage plus a simple digitizing path. If you want to preserve your vinyl treasures, you get everything you need here from one source.
