The NAD M28 is a 7-channel power amplifier from the Masters series with Purifi Eigentakt technology and over 180 watts of continuous power per channel.
The powerhouse in your home cinema's engine room – seven channels that don't buckle even when the world ends on screen.
Why the NAD M28?
Multichannel sound is unforgiving: the moment every channel is driven at once, the wheat separates from the chaff. The M28 delivers over 180 watts on each of its seven channels – simultaneously, not just on paper – and stays extremely low in distortion and neutral thanks to Purifi Eigentakt. Stable down to 2 ohms, with a damping factor above 750: that's the control demanding home cinema speakers need. It's no surprise Home Cinema Choice gave it the Best Buy Award (2021) with a spec sheet like this.
What you get
Seven channels for 7.1 or 5.1.2 setups, each with a balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA input – the XLR connection keeps the signal noise-free over long runs. Seven gold-plated speaker terminal pairs, a 12V trigger for system control. And despite the power, it stays cool thanks to Class-D and fits in the rack instead of turning it into a radiator.
Who is the NAD M28 for – and who isn't it for?
Built for serious home cinema: as a powerful power amp paired with the NAD M17 V2i or any high-quality AV processor with XLR outputs. Bottom line: the M28 is a pure power amplifier with no decoder and no volume control – you need an AV preamp or processor in front of it. For pure stereo it's overkill; an M23 V2 is enough there.
Our verdict
The M28 is the calm, cool power behind a big home cinema: seven Purifi-clean channels, uncompromisingly stable. If you want no half-measures in multichannel, this is it.

Frequently asked questions
Which preamp fits the NAD M28?
The ideal match is the NAD M17 V2i: the AV preamp and the M28 are matched to each other and share the Masters design. In principle, though, any AV processor with balanced XLR outputs will work. The XLR connection gets you the best noise performance and detail resolution out of the multichannel system. We're happy to help you figure out which combination suits your speakers.
Which home cinema configurations suit the NAD M28?
The seven channels fully cover classic 7.1 or 5.1.2 Atmos setups. Need even more channels for a bigger Atmos layout? Simply combine the M28 with another power amp – for example an NAD M23 V2 for the front channels. That way the system grows with your needs instead of starting over.
