The Lavardin MAP-20 is the refined evolution of the MAP – a pair of mono power amplifiers with its own power supply per channel, whose circuitry and power supply Lavardin has further reworked for this version. It's the most expensive and, according to the manufacturer itself, the most advanced power amp in the range.

Why the MAP-20?

As with the other Reference and X versions in the Lavardin range, the basic concept stays unchanged – two completely separate mono chassis, each with its own power supply – while components and circuit details have been further refined. The MAP-20 thus marks the pinnacle of what Lavardin builds in power amps with its Memory-Free technology.

What you hear

Compared to the MAP, the MAP-20 feels even more assured in control and more finely resolved in quiet passages, while its neutral, effortless basic character stays the same. The gain shows up less in raw power than in the ability to keep an overview even with complex, densely orchestrated music.

Who is the MAP-20 for? (and who isn't it for)

For customers with an already very high-quality system – reference speakers, a finely resolving preamp – who consistently seek the optimum. Straight talk: without an equally capable rest of the chain, a large part of the premium over the MAP simply evaporates; an honest consultation beforehand pays off here.

Our verdict

The MAP-20 is a statement piece for a small target group who know what they want and are willing to pay for it. Anyone planning a system like this should absolutely listen to it calmly first.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the MAP-20 and the MAP?

Both share the concept of two completely separate mono chassis, each with its own power supply. The MAP-20 brings further reworked components and circuit details that, according to the manufacturer, deliver more control and finer resolution, while keeping the same basic concept and format.

What system suits the MAP-20?

It makes the most sense in an already very high-quality system with a finely resolving preamp and demanding speakers. In a simpler chain, the more affordable MAP is often the better choice, because the difference matters less there.

Is the MAP-20 delivered as a pair?

Yes, just like with the MAP, a stereo system needs both mono chassis – one per channel. The stated price applies to the complete pair, including both power supplies and chassis, ready to operate with your stereo system and any speakers.

Why buy the Lavardin MAP-20 from HD Zürisee?

For an investment of this scale, we favour a personal conversation over a quick sale – we check together with you whether the rest of the chain can keep up. Get in touch by phone, WhatsApp, or email.

Goes well with

Our reference preamp, the Lavardin CX42, suits the MAP-20 well; for that final fine-tuning, we recommend quality speaker cables and power cables.
