The JBL L100 Classic MKII is a large 3-way bookshelf speaker in the iconic retro look – with genuine walnut veneer, the distinctive Quadrex foam grille and modern JBL acoustics underneath.

The second generation of arguably the most famous JBL speaker of all: a 30 cm woofer, 13 cm midrange, 25 mm titanium dome tweeter and a reworked crossover. Supplied as a pair.

Who is the L100 Classic MKII for – and who isn't it for?

Straight talk: The L100 MKII is large and wants space as well as an amplifier with reserves (4 Ω). If you're after a neutral, restrained studio monitor, the 4349 suits you better – the L100 is deliberately tuned to be lively and full of character. For small rooms, the L82 or L52 is more fitting.

Bookshelf or stand?

It plays best on the matching JBL JS-120 stand (7° angled) – at ear height and decoupled from the floor. Horizontal or on a shelf also works, but costs openness.
