The JBL 4305P Studio Monitor is an active streaming bookshelf speaker: a complete speaker system with built-in amplifiers, D/A converter and network streaming – all you need is music and power.

Behind the iconic studio monitor look sits modern JBL technology: a patented 1-inch compression driver on the HDI horn, a 13 cm Pure Pulp woofer and 300 watts of Class D power – controllable via app, remote control or directly on the unit. Supplied as a pair (primary and secondary speaker).

Why the JBL 4305P?

Because it packs a complete active chain into two speakers. Chromecast built-in, Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth 5.1 bring Tidal, Qobuz and co. straight in, and a 24-bit/192 kHz DAC ensures clean conversion. For turntables, CD players or professional sources there's an XLR/jack combo input, asynchronous USB-B, optical and 3.5 mm analogue. The HDI horn focuses the treble precisely – studio tuning for the living room.

What you hear

Direct, dynamic sound with typical JBL liveliness: punchy dynamics, precise imaging thanks to the horn, and honest, unvarnished mids. A monitor that shows you exactly what's on the recording.

Who is the 4305P for – and who isn't it for?

Straight talk: The 4305P is for anyone who wants a compact, low-cable high-end chain without a separate amplifier. If you already own a good amplifier and just want passive speakers, the JBL 4349 or an L Classic model suits you better – the 4305P is active and replaces the electronics along with it.

Do I need stands?

Recommended: at ear height and decoupled from furniture, the 4305P plays more openly. The matching JBL JS-65 stand is made exactly for this.

Our verdict

A complete high-end system in a retro monitor format: streaming, DAC and amplifiers built in, studio precision as standard. If you want to save space and cabling without sacrificing sound, this is exactly right. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we set up the network and sources with you and advise you on placement – demo on request.
