The Grado Prestige SR60x is an open-back on-ear headphone with a 44mm X driver, delivering classic Grado sound at the entry point of the series.
It's the starting point of the Prestige x series – and for many, the moment they realise a headphone can do more than just play loud.
Why the SR60x?
The X driver is Grado's new development for this series: a stronger magnet circuit, a voice coil with less moving mass, and a newly voiced diaphragm. In the SR60x it sits in the lightest build in the range – plastic housing, 4-conductor super-annealed copper cable, vegan synthetic headband. Little ballast, lots of music.
What you hear
A direct, midrange-focused presentation with vocal reproduction that surprises at this level. The flat S-cushions place the driver close to the ear: intimate, immediate, without artificial width. Guitars, vocals, drums – everything comes straight to the point.
Who is the SR60x for?
For anyone finding out for the first time what a proper headphone can really do. Straight talk: open means open – on the train, in an open-plan office, or next to a sleeping housemate, it's the wrong choice. And if you want bass in your chest rather than bass in the groove, keep browsing.
Our verdict
The SR60x is the most honest entry point we know: no frills, no effects, just driver and music. Hand on heart – start here and you'll listen differently afterwards.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the SR60x and the SR80x?
On paper they're nearly identical: the same 44mm X driver, the same S-cushions, the same 4-conductor cable, 38 Ω on both. In tuning, the SR80x adds a touch more foundation and calm, while the SR60x sounds a shade more direct and lively. Whichever way you lean, you won't go wrong.
Does the SR60x need a headphone amplifier?
No, none is required. At 38 Ω and 98 dB sound pressure, it plays loud enough from a smartphone, laptop or any amplifier output. A good headphone amplifier or DAC still adds more background calm and bass control – as a later upgrade, not a starting requirement.
Can I swap the SR60x's ear cushions?
Yes. The S-cushions pull off and can be replaced, and you can also switch to other Grado cushions – L- or F-cushions change the distance to the driver and noticeably shift the tuning. We stock replacement cushions individually; they're the cheapest tuning option for any Grado.
