The Gold Note PSU-1000 is an external inductive power supply for the Series 1000 that feeds units such as the CD-1000 MkII, P-1000 MkII and PH-1000 with five transformers and five low-noise voltage regulators.
It is the entry point into external power for the Series 1000 – in the same chassis as the larger PSU-1250. This version comes in gold anodised, brushed aluminium.
Why the PSU-1000?
The idea is simple: what isn’t inside the unit can’t interfere there. The PSU-1000 takes transformers and regulation out of the source or preamp and filters the supply with Gold Note’s dual-choke technology. Four transformers handle power and galvanic isolation, a fifth feeds the inductive filter. You select the absolute phase on the front. More than 200 watts of dynamic power are on tap – enough reserve that the electronics never have to beg for current.
What you hear
A clean supply rarely shows up as an effect, but as calm: less background noise, more precise contours and more composure in loud, dense passages. Gold Note promises power free of EMI and RFI interference – in everyday listening you notice it most because you can play a little louder without it becoming tiring.
Who is the PSU-1000 for?
For owners of a Series 1000 unit who want to make the move to external power without going straight to the top model. Bottom line: If you want to push everything to the limit anyway and have the budget, you should at least consider the PSU-1250. And neither of the two is intended for other manufacturers’ units.
Our verdict
The PSU-1000 is the value-for-money power supply of the Series 1000: same concept, same chassis, a little less material extravagance than the PSU-1250. Tell us about your system – the team at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil will gladly tell you which version suits your unit.

Frequently asked questions
Which units is the PSU-1000 intended for?
For Gold Note’s Series 1000. The manufacturer names as examples the CD-1000 MkII CD player, the P-1000 MkII preamplifier and the PH-1000 phono stage. If you own another unit from the series, we will gladly check compatibility with the importer before you order – so there are no surprises.
Is the extra cost of the PSU-1250 worth it?
That depends on your system. The PSU-1250 offers two additional transformers, two more voltage regulators and more than 300 instead of 200 watts of dynamic reserve. In a very high-resolution chain that can pay off; in many systems, however, the PSU-1000 is already the decisive step forward.
