The Gold Note PST-10 is an external inductive power supply for Gold Note turntables with low-voltage power, feeding the drive of the Mediterraneo, Giglio, Pianosa and Valore 425 with filtered current.

It replaces the simple standard power supply and is the upgrade Gold Note itself intends for its turntables. This version comes with a front panel in silver anodised, brushed aluminium.

Why the PST-10?

A turntable motor wants one thing above all: constant, clean voltage. The supplied plug-in power supply does that decently, but no more. The PST-10 uses four audio-grade transformers – three for the supply, one for the inductive dual-choke filter – and four ultra-low-noise voltage regulators. This decouples the drive from the mains, keeping interference out. The connection is made via a 1.5-metre special cable with a silver conductor. Yes, silver. For a motor. Welcome to high-end.

What you hear

Gold Note promises more dynamics, resolution and fine detail. The reason lies in the turntable itself: the more calmly the motor runs, the fewer vibrations and speed fluctuations reach the groove via platter and tonearm. You hear it as composure rather than effect – piano notes stand more steadily, bass lines feel tighter and the background becomes quieter.

Who is the PST-10 for?

For owners of a Mediterraneo, Giglio, Pianosa, Valore 425 Plus or Valore 425 Lite who want to get the most out of their turntable without replacing the whole unit. Bottom line: The PST-10 is not intended for turntables from other brands. And if your cartridge or alignment isn’t right yet, every franc goes further there than here. First the basics, then the power supply.

Our verdict

The PST-10 is Gold Note’s own upgrade for its turntables: in the Series 10 chassis format, cleanly filtered, solidly built. Tell us which model spins at your place – at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we’ll work out with you whether and how the power supply pays off on your turntable.

Frequently asked questions

Which turntables does the PST-10 suit?

The PST-10 is built for Gold Note turntables with low-voltage power: Mediterraneo, Giglio, Pianosa, Valore 425 Plus and Valore 425 Lite. It replaces the standard power supply there. It is not intended for turntables from other manufacturers – ask us if you are unsure which version your unit is.

How is the PST-10 connected to the turntable?

Via a 1.5-metre special cable with a silver conductor that powers the turntable’s drive electronics directly. You place the PST-10 next to the turntable or in the rack below; at 200 × 80 × 260 mm it takes up hardly more space than a book. On the mains side it works automatically with 100 to 240 volts.
