The Gold Note Diana III-F is a passive bass module with a front bass reflex port that turns the Diana I and Diana II bookshelf speakers into floorstanders and extends their bass down to 38 Hz.
The module has a matt black lacquer finish and visually matches all fabric and phaser combinations in the Diana series. Supplied as a pair.
Why the Diana III-F?
Because it fulfils the promise of the Diana series: start small, grow later. You simply place your Diana I or Diana II on the III-F. Magnets in the cabinet align the modules, and the supplied Diana Bridge connects the terminals at the back – your amplifier still sees just one speaker cable per side. No second cable, no crossover to adjust, no tinkering.
Inside, a 6.5-inch glass fibre woofer works in 23 litres of volume, filtered by a passive 80 Hz low-pass. So it only handles what the bookshelf speaker on top physically struggles with. The bass reflex port faces forward, and four height-adjustable spikes ensure a secure stance on any floor.
What you get
More bass extension, more composure at higher levels and a listening height that's right without separate stands. According to Gold Note, the complete system with the III-F reaches down to 38 Hz – the Diana I alone manages 48 Hz, the Diana II 45 Hz. The difference shows with organ, electronic music and film soundtracks, but also subtly at low levels, where music suddenly has more body. With 91 dB sensitivity, the system stays amplifier-friendly; 10 to 150 watts are recommended.
Who is the Diana III-F for?
For anyone who already owns a Diana I or Diana II or is buying one with an upgrade plan. Straight talk: on its own, the III-F plays no music – it's a bass module, not a standalone speaker and not an active subwoofer with its own amplifier. Without a Diana I or II on top, it's a very beautiful, very heavy stool. And if you already have a good active subwoofer, compare first which route works better in your own room.
Our verdict
The III-F turns a good bookshelf speaker into a full-grown floorstander without you having to replace your existing pair. That's clever, sustainable and a real step forward in sound. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we'll gladly tell you whether the upgrade is worthwhile in your room or whether a subwoofer would be the better solution – call, write or send us a WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Diana III-F work without a Diana I or II?
No. The Diana III-F is a passive bass module that only works together with a Diana I or Diana II. It has an 80 Hz low-pass filter and no midrange or treble reproduction of its own. Only with the bookshelf speaker placed on top does it become a complete floorstander with bass down to 38 Hz, according to Gold Note.
How is the Diana III-F connected?
Via the supplied Diana Bridge. It connects the terminals of the bass module and the bookshelf speaker at the back, so you only need one speaker cable per side from the amplifier. Magnets in the cabinet ensure that the two modules sit exactly on top of each other. No separate amplifier or adjustment is needed.
Is the Diana III-F a subwoofer?
Yes and no. Technically it is a passive subwoofer with a 6.5-inch woofer and front bass reflex port, but in practice it is a stand module for the Diana series. Unlike an active subwoofer, it has no amplifier of its own and is powered by the stereo amplifier. One module works per side, so the pair does not replace a central subwoofer.
Why buy the Gold Note Diana III-F from HD Zürisee?
Because we know the whole Diana family and will tell you honestly whether the upgrade is worthwhile for your room. We deliver, set up and adjust the spikes so that everything stands securely. Our own technician supports you with questions about amplifiers and cabling, and our advice doesn't stop after the purchase.
Goes well with
You'll find the matching Diana models among the bookshelf speakers, powerful integrated amplifiers for the bigger system and speaker cables for a clean connection. For comparison, it's worth looking at ready-made floorstanding speakers.
