The Gold Note B-7 Ceramic is a handmade 9-inch tonearm with a titanium arm tube and ceramic ball bearings, built for high-end turntables and demanding cartridges. Gold Note fits it as standard to its Mediterraneo turntable; bought separately, it also upgrades other turntables with a suitable armboard. The combination of brushed titanium and black anodised aluminium looks so refined that you almost forget that physics, not jewellery, is the point here.
Why the B-7 Ceramic?
The titanium arm tube has a 12 mm diameter and is divided into six sections of different wall thickness. The idea: resonances shouldn’t build up along the entire length but be spread out and broken up. Add to that four ceramic ball bearings, which GRW in Germany makes for Gold Note, tests individually and seals. Ceramic is harder and more dimensionally stable than steel, which benefits the smooth running and long-term stability of the bearings.
What you hear
A tonearm shouldn’t have a sound of its own – and that’s exactly where the B-7 Ceramic shines. It holds the cartridge calmly and precisely in the groove so it can do its job. You hear this in stable imaging, clean decays and bass that stays under control. You set the arm height at the collar and the azimuth via two micro screws at the headshell, and the hydraulic lift lowers the stylus gently.
Who is the B-7 Ceramic for?
For analogue fans with a high-quality turntable who run an upper-class MC cartridge – such as a Donatello or Giotto from Gold Note’s own range – and don’t want the arm to be the weakest link in the chain. Straight talk: on a simple entry-level turntable with a budget cartridge, the B-7 Ceramic is simply in the wrong place. There you’re better off investing in the turntable or the cartridge first.
Our verdict
The B-7 Ceramic is a tonearm for people who know that the last few percent aren’t hidden in the spec sheet but in bearings, materials and craftsmanship. Finely made, precisely adjustable and with a titanium tube you’ll enjoy looking at even when no record is playing. Frequently asked questions
Which cartridges suit the B-7 Ceramic?
With 10 g effective mass, the B-7 Ceramic is a medium-mass arm and suits medium-compliance cartridges, i.e. most MC and many MM designs. The counterweight balances cartridges up to 15 grams; for heavier ones, Gold Note offers additional weights. High-quality MC cartridges such as the Donatello or Giotto are a particularly good match.
What do the ceramic ball bearings in the B-7 Ceramic bring?
Ceramic balls are harder and more dimensionally stable than steel balls. This means very low friction and a bearing that still runs precisely after years. Gold Note has the four bearings made by GRW in Germany, individually tested and sealed. For the cartridge, this means it can follow the groove as undisturbed as possible.
Will the B-7 Ceramic fit my turntable?
That depends on the armboard. The B-7 Ceramic has a 23 mm mounting shaft, 242 mm effective length and 19 mm overhang. Your turntable therefore needs a suitable hole or armboard and the right distance between the arm pivot and the platter spindle. Tell us the make and model of your turntable and we’ll clarify the mounting in advance.
Does the B-7 Ceramic come with a cartridge?
No, the B-7 Ceramic is supplied without a cartridge; the cartridge in the product photo is for illustration only. The scope of delivery includes the tonearm and a 1.5 m tonearm cable with DIN plug and RCA connectors. We’re happy to choose the right cartridge together with you, matched to your turntable and phono stage.
Why buy the Gold Note B-7 Ceramic from HD Zürisee?
Because a tonearm of this class is only as good as its installation. We check with you whether the B-7 Ceramic fits your turntable, put together a well-matched combination with cartridge and phono stage, and our own technician takes care of installation and alignment. Our analogue experience goes back to the early nineties.

An arm of this class deserves an equally good cartridge – see our cartridges. You’ll find suitable turntables among our turntables, plus phono preamplifiers and phono cables.
