The Faller OSKAR is a portable TV speech enhancer that wirelessly brings the TV sound to your seat and specifically lifts dialogue out of the mix.
You know the situation: the film is running, the music swells, and right then someone says the line that matters. So you turn it up. Then the next explosion is too loud, and the person next to you gives you a look. OSKAR solves it the other way round – it brings the voice to the front instead of simply making everything louder.
Why the OSKAR?
Because it solves a single problem, and solves it properly. A base station connects to the TV, the actual OSKAR sits with you – on the side table, the armrest, the kitchen counter. Between the two runs a low-latency 2.4 GHz radio link, so picture and sound stay in sync. The voice optimisation was developed by sonoro audio and works in three levels: from subtle to pronounced, depending on how much the sound needs a boost.
The rest is deliberately unspectacular. One dial, three buttons, done. No app, no Wi-Fi, no account. If you've ever explained a Bluetooth pairing to a relative over the phone, you know why that's a feature.
What you get
Two 35 mm full-range speakers plus a passive radiator, driven by 2 × 2 watts – no home cinema, but enough for speech at normal room volume right in front of you. Up to 16 hours of battery life, after which OSKAR goes back onto the base station and charges in around four hours. Range up to about 30 metres, so it covers the living room, the open kitchen, and usually the balcony too.
The aluminium housing with fabric cover and the distinctive carry handle is built to be carried around. And since OSKAR has a headphone output, you can also keep the sound entirely to yourself while the rest of the household enjoys the quiet.
Who is the OSKAR right for?
For anyone who has to listen closely to watch TV instead of simply watching – and who gets tired of that by the evening. For households where two people need two different volumes. And for anyone who wants to step away from the TV and still keep listening.
Straight talk: OSKAR is not a sound system. It doesn't make films bigger, bass deeper, or surround more spacious – it's a specialist for speech. If you want to upgrade the TV sound overall, you're better served by a home cinema solution. And if you have a medically diagnosed hearing loss, it doesn't replace a hearing aid. OSKAR is the pragmatic solution in between – and it's exactly in that gap that it's really good.
Our verdict
A device with a single job that it does cleanly: understanding instead of turning up the volume. We like that Faller resisted the temptation to bolt on streaming, an app, and a voice assistant. Two cables, one button, peace in the living room – at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we happily file devices like this under “problem solved, next topic”.
What the trade press says: “The Oskar from Faller Audio is a practical and straightforward problem-solver for anyone who simply wants to 'understand' their TV better.” – technikzuhause.de, test 03/2024. Also “very good” from connect (issue 3/2024) and “very good / top class” from AV-Magazin.de (2023); technikzuhause also lists OSKAR as Product of the Year 2024/2025 in the TV speech enhancer category.

Frequently asked questions
How is the Faller OSKAR connected to the TV?
Via the base station, with two cables: one for power, one for sound. For sound you use either your TV's optical output (Toslink) or its analogue headphone or AUX output. Both cables are included. No app, Wi-Fi, or account needed.
Does OSKAR work with every TV?
With practically any device that has an optical digital output or an analogue headphone or line output – including smart TVs. Just check the back of your TV to see which of the two outputs it offers. HDMI ARC alone isn't enough.
What exactly does the dialogue filter do?
It analyses the TV sound and boosts the speech content relative to music and effects. You choose between three levels, from subtle to pronounced, or switch it off entirely. That way you understand dialogue at normal volume, without the rest of the household having to suffer along.
Can I connect headphones to OSKAR?
Yes. OSKAR has a 3.5 mm headphone output, and the speaker stays silent while it's in use. That's handy if you want to keep watching alone late at night. You still control the volume with OSKAR's own dial.
How long does the battery last and how is it charged?
Up to 16 hours in one go, enough for several evenings of TV. Charging happens by placing it on the base station, and a full charge takes around four hours. Without an audio signal, OSKAR automatically goes into power-save mode after about five minutes.
