The Epos stand is a speaker stand developed specifically for the Epos ES-14N stand-mount speaker, joining box and floor into one unit.
It brings the ES-14N up to the acoustically correct height, couples it to the floor via adjustable spikes, and bolts directly to the speaker through four pre-drilled holes. Not a nice accessory, then, but part of the tuning. Supplied as a pair.
Why the original stand?
Because Karl-Heinz Fink designed it together with the ES-14N – taking a different route than half the industry. The column isn't a steel tube but a laminated wood beam made of four glued layers, joined with the same damping adhesive used in the speaker cabinet itself. The top plate consists of two steel plates with a layer of bitumen in between, the base plate of thick steel. Wood damps, steel calms, bitumen swallows the rest.
What you get
A pair of stands at 515 millimetres in height – exactly the height at which the ES-14N's tweeter lands at ear level while seated and the soundstage locks in. Four aligned holes in the top plate turn speaker and stand into a mechanical unit, instead of simply sitting one on top of the other. Height-adjustable spikes sit in the steel base plate, so you can level out even an uneven old parquet floor.
Who is the stand right for – and who isn't it for?
Straight talk: if you own an ES-14N, this is the wrong place to save money. A sideboard reliably turns a very good monitor into a mediocre one. Third-party stands around 55 centimetres also work according to Epos, but skip the fixed bolted connection. For other stand-mount speakers, the stand is only a partial fit, since its height and bolt pattern are calculated for the ES-14N. And if you're after a sand-filled heavyweight fortress, look elsewhere: this stand works with damping, not tonnage.
Our verdict
The most consistent foundation the ES-14N can get – and one of the few stands you can genuinely regard as part of the speaker. Set it perfectly level, lock the spikes in place, and put coasters under the tips on parquet flooring. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we'll mount the pair correctly for you on request and advise you on placement in the room.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Epos stand only fit the ES-14N, or other stand-mount speakers too?
It's calculated for the ES-14N and only fully makes sense there. The top plate's height and bolt pattern are matched to this speaker. You can place another stand-mount speaker on it, but not bolt it on – the fixed mechanical unit of box and stand is then lost.
Can I fill the stand with sand or shot?
No, filling isn't intended. The column is a solid laminated wood beam of four glued layers rather than a hollow tube. Damping comes from the wood, the glue, and the bitumen layer in the top plate. So you won't gain extra mass here, but you will gain quiet.
How high does the tweeter sit with this stand?
Just under a metre above the floor. The stand measures 515 millimetres, the ES-14N is 491 millimetres tall, and the tweeter sits in the upper part of the baffle. That puts it roughly at ear level while seated – exactly the height Epos chose it for.
Do the spikes work on parquet flooring?
Yes, but please use protective discs. Spikes concentrate the entire weight onto tiny areas and would otherwise leave pressure marks on parquet or laminate. Put flat metal discs under the tips and lock the spikes firmly in place, and the floor stays intact while the coupling stays well defined.
