The Dual Gegengewicht+ is a 10 gram additional counterweight that extends the adjustment range of the tonearm and makes it possible to balance heavier cartridges on Dual CS turntables.

Some cartridges are so heavy that the standard counterweight reaches its limits. Then persuasion doesn't help, but a bit more mass at the right end does.

Why an additional weight?

A tonearm has to be balanced before the tracking force is set. If the cartridge is too heavy, the original counterweight is no longer enough. The Gegengewicht+ is screwed onto the thread at the rear end of the tonearm and works together with the existing counterweight, which remains fully adjustable. The compact design ensures that the tonearm does not hit the closed cover when swinging in.

Who is the Gegengewicht+ for? (and who is it not for – plain talk)

For owners of a CS 518, 529, 618Q, 629Q or 718Q with a fully gimbal-mounted tonearm who want to fit a heavier cartridge. If you stick with a normal-weight cartridge, you don't need it. According to Dual, it is not intended for the CS 329, 418 and 429.
