The Denon AH-C15PL PerL Pro is a true wireless in-ear headphone with ANC, lossless aptX Lossless, and Denon's further-developed sound personalization.
It's the next step up from the AH-C10PL PerL: a newer titanium driver, lossless Bluetooth transmission via aptX Lossless, and spatial sound via Dirac Virtuo – for anyone who doesn't want to give up anything on personalization and transmission quality.
Why the AH-C15PL PerL Pro?
A 10 mm driver with a low-distortion, three-layer titanium diaphragm forms the base, plus Denon's personalization app again with a Masimo hearing test that creates an individual sound profile. New compared to the PerL is aptX Lossless: over a compatible source, music runs losslessly, with no compression artifacts at all. Dirac Virtuo additionally simulates a spatial sound impression that's otherwise hard to achieve with headphones.
Eight microphones in total and aptX Voice support ensure clear calls even in noisy environments, and adaptive ANC with Social Mode rounds out the package.
What you hear
With an aptX Lossless source, a noticeably finer, cleaner sound than with compressed Bluetooth – resolution and spatiality benefit the most. After personalization via the app, this becomes a sound image tailored to your hearing.
Who is the AH-C15PL PerL Pro suited for?
For listeners who want to get the maximum out of true wireless and own a smartphone with aptX Lossless support, or plan to get one. Bottom line: without an aptX Lossless-capable source (not available on many iPhones, for example), the biggest unique selling point goes unused – then the cheaper AH-C10PL PerL is often the more sensible choice.
Our verdict
The AH-C15PL PerL Pro is Denon's current flagship among true wireless earbuds – consistently thought through to the end, but only worth the money if your source plays along. If you check that and can say yes, you get one of the most ambitious earbuds on the market. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we'll help you check whether your smartphone supports aptX Lossless before you buy.
