DALI Opticon LCR MK2 Grille, White

The DALI Opticon LCR MK2 Grille is the hand-mountable front cover for the DALI Opticon LCR MK2 – acoustically transparent fabric on a flat, precisely fitted frame that protects the drivers without bending the sound.

This version has the white fabric. From the factory, the Opticon LCR MK2 comes in Satin White with light grey fabric; the white grille is the accessory variant for anyone for whom even that light grey is too much contrast against a white wall. With it, the on-wall speaker almost completely disappears.

Why the integrated clip-on solution?

DALI built the mounts for the Opticon MK2 directly into the surrounds of the woofer/midrange and tweeter; that's exactly where the grille's fixing pins engage. No drill holes in the baffle, no visible brackets, no tools – and nothing that could rattle at high volume. With a light-coloured front, that's a particular advantage: there are no dark mounting points showing through the fabric.

What you get

A single unit, not a pair. For a stereo pair you need two, for a complete front with centre channel, three. The flat frame barely adds any depth and fits precisely in either mounting direction: upright as a left or right front speaker, or sideways as a centre channel under the screen.

Who is the grille for?

Bottom line: white is the colour for bright living spaces and for anyone who'd rather have their gear disappear. But it's also the most honest colour – dust, fingerprints and that one espresso splash show up sooner here than on black or grey. If you have small children or a very active cat in the house, grey is the more relaxed choice. And if you're chasing the last trace of brilliance in a darkened home cinema, you'd rather listen without any cover at all anyway.

Our verdict

The most consistent choice for a bright interior: white wall, white speaker, white front – and the LCR becomes a picture on the wall rather than a piece of equipment. It's also the obvious solution as a replacement for a damaged cover, since a torn grille stands out especially on a light-coloured speaker.

Frequently asked questions

Is the white grille the same colour as the Satin White cabinet?

Not exactly. The cabinet is lacquered, the grille is covered in fabric – lacquer and textile reflect light differently, so a slight colour difference remains visible. From the factory, DALI pairs the white cabinet with light grey fabric. If you want a completely uniform look, compare both variants side by side beforehand.

Does the grille affect the sound?

Not audibly in everyday use. The fabric is chosen to be acoustically transparent so that sound passes through practically unimpeded. On measurement, a minimal effect remains in the treble – if that matters to you, you can pull the cover off by hand in a second and put it back on afterwards.

Can I put the white grille on a black LCR?

Yes, mechanically it fits any Opticon LCR MK2, regardless of the cabinet finish. Visually it becomes a deliberate contrast: light front, dark frame all around. Some people like exactly that, others find it busy. There's nothing against it technically.
