DALI Opticon LCR MK2 Grille, Grey

The DALI Opticon LCR MK2 Grille is the clip-on front cover for the DALI Opticon LCR MK2 – acoustically permeable fabric on a flat, precisely fitted frame that protects the drivers without bending the sound.

This version wears the grey cover. DALI pairs the light grey as standard with the cabinet in Satin White – against a white or light wall, the speaker then reads noticeably quieter than with a black front. If you have a calm, bright interior, this is the one to reach for.

Why the integrated clip mount?

DALI has built the mounting points on the Opticon MK2 directly into the surrounds of the woofer/midrange and tweeter; that's where the grille's fixing pins engage. So there are no drilled holes in the baffle and no visible fixings – and therefore nothing that could rattle at high levels. Position it, press it on, done; removing it takes just as long and needs no tools.

What you get

A single item, not a pair. For a stereo pair you need two, for a complete front with centre channel, three. The frame adds barely any bulk, so the flat on-wall speaker stays flat, and it fits precisely in both mounting orientations – upright for left and right, sideways as a centre channel under the screen.

Who is the grille suited to?

Plain and simple: if you want to extract the very last touch of airiness from the ribbon in a darkened room, you'll prefer listening without any cover at all – any fabric in front of the tweeter costs a touch of brilliance, purely as a matter of physics. Grey, on the other hand, is the choice for anyone who finds a black rectangle too dominant on a light wall. It suits a dark cabinet in Satin Black less well – there, black is the more fitting colour.

Our verdict

The least intrusive of the three colours. Grey holds back against light walls without looking cheap, and hides dust better than any other cover. As a replacement for a damaged grille, or as a deliberate colour change, it's an affordable piece with plenty of visual impact.

Frequently asked questions

Which cabinet finish does the grey grille suit?

Best with Satin White. DALI ships the Opticon LCR MK2 in Satin White with the light cover as standard; Satin Black and Tobacco Oak come with the black one. As an accessory, you're of course free to mix things up – a grey fabric in front of dark wood can look quite appealing.

Does the grille also fit the older Opticon series without MK2?

No. Dimensions, driver layout and fixing points differ between the first Opticon generation and the MK2. This grille fits exclusively the Opticon LCR MK2. If in doubt, send us a photo of the baffle and we'll tell you which generation you have.

How do I clean the cover?

Remove the grille, then vacuum it with a soft brush or the lowest vacuum setting – always in the direction of the fabric weave. No moisture, no cleaning agents, no adhesive tape. That's exactly what the clip fixing is handy for: the cover is on the table in seconds instead of on the speaker.
