The DALI Opticon 6 MK2 Grille in White is the clip-on front cover for the DALI Opticon 6 MK2 floorstanding speaker – light-coloured acoustic fabric on a precisely fitted frame that protects the drivers and lets sound through almost unimpeded.

White is the one colour in this series that DALI doesn't fit as standard: the white Opticon 6 MK2 comes as standard with a mottled grey cover. If you really want a front that's uniformly light, you order this single item deliberately as an extra.

Why white?

Because a white speaker with a grey front ends up being a two-tone speaker after all. Only with the white cover does the Opticon 6 MK2 visually become one continuous column, and it nearly recedes against a light wall. In bright rooms, in period apartments with white stucco, or anywhere the system shouldn't be the first thing a guest sees, that makes the difference.

What you get

A single front cover, cut to fit the Opticon 6 MK2's baffle. The fabric sits in front of the hybrid tweeter (29 mm fabric dome plus planar driver) and the wood fibre cones without damping them. It's fixed via pins that engage with the surrounds of the tweeter and woofer/midrange: no tools, no drilling, no lasting marks on the cabinet.

Who is the white grille suited to – and who isn't it for?

Plain and simple: critical listeners remove any cover, this one included – fabric in front of a planar tweeter always costs a touch of brilliance, purely as a matter of physics. And if you've ever seen light-coloured fabric next to a fireplace or a cat, you know: white wants a bit more upkeep than black. In return, you get a look almost nobody else has, and driver protection that survives every move and every kids' birthday party.

Practically not. The fabric is woven so that it lets sound through almost unimpeded – that's the difference from a random decorative panel. For very focused listening, you're still welcome to take it off; it's back in its usual place within two seconds.

Is the white grille approved for the Opticon MK1 series?

No, it's only specified for the Opticon 6 MK2. DALI nowhere states whether it fits a first-generation Opticon cabinet – so we won't claim it does either. Tell us which model you have, and we'll check with distribution.

Is white included as standard?

No. DALI fits the white Opticon 6 MK2 with a mottled grey cover as standard; the white version is an accessory ordered separately. If you really want the front to blend into the wall colour, there's no way around this single item. No drama – but good to know before ordering.
