DALI Epikore 9 Floorstanding Speakers, Gloss White (Pair)

The DALI Epikore 9 is a 4-way floorstanding speaker from the Danish Epikore series with an EVO-K hybrid tweeter and dual 20 cm bass – in this version under a pure, multi-layer polished Gloss White.

White is the newest finish in the Epikore range, and it has a practical advantage: a 1.31-metre-tall tower looks noticeably lighter in a bright lacquer than its actual 64 kilograms. Underneath the lacquer sits the same technology as in every Epikore 9 variant – tweeter module, 6.5-inch midrange driver, two 8-inch woofers with SMC Gen 2 magnet system, all made in Denmark.

Why the Epikore 9?

Because four ways are more than a number on a spec sheet. Every frequency range gets its own specialist, split at 400, 3,100 and 12,500 Hz. The hybrid module made of a 35 mm dome and planar magnetostat reaches up to 34 kHz, the two 20 cm woofers reach down to 29 Hz. Nothing in between is left unattended.

Precision without coldness. The Epikore 9 resolves very finely, yet never sounds analytical – that Danish school of thought. With large orchestras the order stays intact where smaller speakers have long since given up. With 88 dB sensitivity and 4 Ω nominal impedance it has a healthy appetite; DALI states 40 to 500 watts as a sensible range. Who is the Epikore 9 suitable for?

Let's be clear: for large, well-furnished rooms from about 30 square metres upwards – and for people willing to spend a few weekends on placement. In small rooms or on an underpowered amplifier, plenty of potential goes to waste. But if you have the space and a proper amp, you almost certainly won't need another speaker afterwards.

How much amplifier power does the Epikore 9 need?

An amplifier with a strong power supply sounds more composed driving this speaker than a pure spec-sheet monster with a high rated output.
