The DALI Epikore 9 is a 4-way floorstanding speaker from the Danish Epikore series that brings the driver technology of the flagship DALI KORE into a living-room-friendly format – here in deep black high-gloss piano lacquer.
From top to bottom, the baffle carries the EVO-K hybrid tweeter module (35 mm soft-dome plus 10 × 55 mm planar magnetostat), below it a dedicated 6.5-inch midrange driver, and at the bottom two 8-inch woofers. All cone drivers use DALI's Clarity Cone made of paper and wood fibre, and the woofers additionally use SMC Gen 2 magnet systems against hysteresis distortion. It's built in Denmark.
Why the Epikore 9?
Because four genuine ways solve a problem that more compact towers struggle with: the midrange no longer has to handle bass. Voices and strings stay clear while the two 20 cm woofers below work down to 29 Hz. And the cabinet is large enough that low frequencies don't sound like an effort, but like a matter of course.
What you hear
Above all, calm. The Epikore 9 plays big without sounding loud – orchestras keep their layering, drums stay dry, and at 112 dB maximum SPL there's still plenty of headroom left. The black piano lacquer is no accident here: it lets the 1.31-metre-tall column recede into the room in the evening and pushes the music forward. Which electronics really unlock this potential is something we work out with you in advance at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil.
Who is the Epikore 9 suitable for?
Let's be clear: the Epikore 9 wants room. Under about 30 square metres you're taking away half its reason to exist, and its 4 Ω nominal impedance demands a load-stable amplifier that keeps control even in the deep bass. Nothing gets flattered here either – weak recordings stay weak recordings. But if you bring space, amp and ambition, you get a composure you'll be reluctant to give up again.
Our verdict
The Epikore 9 is the point where you're allowed to stop searching: big enough for real dynamics, refined enough for chamber music, and in Gloss Black understated enough for the living room. The specialist press agrees – SoundStage! Hi-Fi has listed it as a "Recommended Reference Component" since February 2025.

Frequently asked questions
How big should the room be for the Epikore 9?
The Epikore 9 plays to its strengths from around 30 square metres upwards. The two 20 cm woofers reach down to 29 Hz – in small rooms this depth tends to fight the room acoustics rather than reward you. For medium-sized rooms, the smaller Epikore 7 is the wiser choice.
Which amplifier suits the Epikore 9?
Load stability at 4 Ω is what matters. DALI recommends 40 to 500 watts, and here the lower limit is less interesting than the upper one: two 20 cm woofers need firm guidance, otherwise the low end turns soft. A powerful power amplifier or a potent integrated amp with a stable power supply is the right direction.
How is the Epikore 9 built?
As a genuine 4-way system with four drivers on one baffle. On top sits the EVO-K hybrid tweeter module made of a 35 mm soft-dome and a planar magnetostat, below it a dedicated 6.5-inch midrange driver, and below that two 8-inch woofers. The crossover points are at 400, 3,100 and 12,500 Hz. That means no driver has to take on a job it wasn't built for.
