The Clearaudio Statement TT1 is a patented Tangential-Tonarm developed specifically for the flagship Clearaudio Statement turntable – here in a black finish with Panzerholz and black aluminum parts.

It's the opposite of a universal solution. The TT1 wasn't engineered for as many turntables as possible, but for exactly one – and can therefore take any design liberty that task demands.

Why the Statement TT1?

Because nothing here needs compensating. Tangential tracking means: no tracking error angle, no skating forces, no countermeasures that you have to adjust and might one day adjust wrongly. The drive remains purely mechanical and passive – dry-running ball bearings in a calibrated, polished glass tube guide the carriage, and a magnetic system locks the arm in the playback position. Chassis and mechanics are made of Panzerholz, aluminum, stainless steel and glass, and the arm comes wired from the factory with two meters of Super Sixstream with RCA connectors.

What you hear

Consistency across the entire side of the record. What starts clean and open at the outer edge sounds exactly the same at the inner grooves – no hardening, no hissing, no collapsing of the soundstage. Dynamic peaks come through unbent, and during pauses it actually stays quiet, because no compressor and no motor is running.

Who is the Statement TT1 for?

For owners of the Clearaudio Statement who want to unlock its final reserves, with cartridges between 5.5 and 15.0 grams. Plain talk: on any other turntable, the TT1 is the wrong tool – for Innovation and Master Innovation there's the TT1 MI version. And yes, the setup is nothing for a free Saturday afternoon; we take care of that.

Our verdict

The TT1 is the uncompromising version of an already uncompromising principle: tangential, passive, without an air bearing, with a ten-year manufacturer's warranty and nearly nine kilograms of precision mechanics. In black, it almost disappears visually behind the turntable – which, given what the Statement itself represents, isn't a bad idea. What fits with it in your system, we'll clarify at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil.

Frequently asked questions

Which turntable is the Statement TT1 designed for?

For the Clearaudio Statement, for which it was specially developed. Anyone owning an Innovation or Master Innovation should instead choose the TT1 MI version, which transfers the same tangential principle to these turntable series. The two arms also differ in height, weight and warranty duration.

Does the Statement TT1 use an air bearing?

No. Clearaudio guides the carriage via dry-running ball bearings in a calibrated, polished glass tube; the drive is purely mechanical and passive. So there's no compressor, no air hose and no operating noise in the listening room – and in daily use nothing that would need regular maintenance.

Why doesn't a Tangential-Tonarm need anti-skating?

Because the skating force doesn't arise in the first place. It's a consequence of the angled armtube on a pivoted tonearm. The TT1 guides the stylus in a straight line through the groove, exactly as it was cut. This eliminates one setting that in practice is often adjusted too coarsely.

How long is Clearaudio's warranty on the Statement TT1?

The manufacturer states ten years of manufacturer's warranty on the Statement TT1 – five more than on the TT1 MI. As an authorized Clearaudio dealer, we handle a warranty case for you and take care of coordination with the distributor, instead of leaving you alone with it.

Why buy the Statement TT1 from HD Zürisee?

Because a turntable of this class needs to be set up properly by a professional and isn't done by parcel delivery.
