The Clearaudio Professional Power 24V is a transformer-based linear power supply for Clearaudio turntables with 24-volt drives, replacing the standard power supply.

Clearaudio names the Ovation and Innovation series as its field of use. Inside the black anodised aluminium cylinder sit a mains transformer, a generous filter and electronic protection – built to feed the motor control with a DC voltage that won't be unsettled by the mains.

Why the Professional Power 24V?

Clearaudio's large turntables control their DC motor via their own control electronics. That control is only as precise as its supply: any residual ripple, any interference from the mains, lands as a small correction in the drive. The Professional Power stabilises the 24 volts before the output and passes them on via a permanently attached DC cable. On the back you'll find a mains switch, an IEC inlet with fuse and a grounding terminal – the classic first-aid kit for a hum living somewhere in the rack.

What you get

Clearaudio explicitly describes the Professional Power 24V as an intermediate stage between the bundled standard power supply and the battery-powered Smart Power solution. In practice that means a quieter background, bass that holds its contour even in dense passages, and more composure on dynamic swings. The drive stays on its track without breathing.

Who is the Professional Power 24V for?

For you, if your turntable comes from the Ovation or Innovation series. Straight talk: not for concept and not for Performance DC – those run on 12 volts and need the 12V version. And it's no miracle cure: a misaligned cartridge or a wobbly base stay a misaligned cartridge on a wobbly base, even with perfect power. Anyone wanting to take their turntable completely off the mains should look at the Smart Power 24V.

Our verdict

A sensible step for Ovation and Innovation owners who've already worked on arm, cartridge and phono stage and want to address the drive next. It doesn't make anything louder or more spectacular – it removes unrest. You really only notice that once you switch back.

Frequently asked questions

Which Clearaudio turntables fit the Professional Power 24V?

Clearaudio names the Ovation and Innovation series. They run on 24 volts DC. Models in the concept and Performance DC series, by contrast, run on 12 volts and need the 12V version. The output voltage is printed on your original power supply – check there and the choice sorts itself out.

Can I run it on a Performance DC or concept?

No. Those turntables are 12-volt models; the Professional Power 12V exists for them. Double the voltage on a 12-volt drive can damage the motor electronics, so please never try it. If in doubt, send us a message with your turntable and we'll match it up.

What's the difference to the Smart Power 24V?

The Professional Power smooths and stabilises the current from the mains. The Smart Power runs on battery during operation and disconnects the turntable from it completely. Clearaudio deliberately positions the Professional Power in between: the step beyond the standard power supply, without going straight to the battery solution.

How big is the power supply, and where do I put it?

It measures 92 × 94 × 145 mm and weighs around 1.1 kilograms – a compact aluminium cylinder that fits beside or under the rack. The DC cable is permanently attached; you connect a mains cable at the IEC inlet. A bit of distance from the phono stage and tonearm cable never hurts.

Why buy the Clearaudio Professional Power 24V at HD Zürisee?

Because the voltage absolutely has to match the turntable, and we check that for you before you order instead of leaving you to guess between two nearly identical-looking cylinders. HD Zürisee in Wädenswil brings decades of analogue experience and our own technician. Contact: +41 44 680 22 00, WhatsApp 076 534 22 00 (text only, no calls), shop@hdzuerisee.ch.

Goes well with

The turntable itself is found among our turntables, matching cartridges under cartridges. More around the deck is under turntable accessories, everything on the power topic under mains filters & power conditioning.
