The Canton Vento AR 1 is a passive Dolby Atmos height module from the Vento series 2026, run as an add-on on top of a speaker or on the wall, that creates the height layer via the ceiling.

Silky matte white is the variant for bright rooms, where a black block on top of the front speaker stands out more than the effect it produces. Inside the sealed enclosure sit a 25 mm Black Ceramic tweeter behind the Transmission Front Plate and a 154 mm mid-woofer with an ATB cone. A wall mount is integrated, and equipment feet and magnetic fabric covers are included.

Why the Canton Vento AR 1?

Because without height channels, Dolby Atmos is just a logo on the remote. The AR 1 delivers this layer without any structural work: set it up, connect it, calibrate it. It uses the same tweeter technology as the rest of the Vento models, so tonally the height layer doesn't stand out. And in white, it almost disappears against a bright wall, which in living rooms typically saves half the discussion.

What you hear

A layer above the actual soundstage that you mainly notice when it's missing. Rain, aircraft, reverb tails, and atmospheres detach from the front speakers and hang above you in the room. Because the enclosure is sealed, the attack stays dry and precise rather than mushy. Music in Atmos mixes also gains noticeably in air and height.

Who is the Canton Vento AR 1 for?

Plain talk: for anyone with an Atmos-capable AV receiver or AV pre-amp, free height channels, and a flat, smooth ceiling at normal living-room height. This solution doesn't suit sloped ceilings, open galleries, very high ceilings, or large suspended acoustic ceilings, since the reflection doesn't come back cleanly there. In such rooms we recommend in-ceiling speakers, even though that means more work.

Our verdict

A small module with a big effect, provided the room plays along. If you already run Vento speakers, this extends your set without any break in tonal character, and the effort is limited to two cables and a calibration run. Talk to us first: the team at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil looks at ceiling height, seating position, and receiver, and tells you whether two or four height channels are the right answer.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Vento AR 1 sold as a pair?

Yes, this listing includes two height speakers in silky matte white. That covers two Atmos height channels, as required by a 5.1.2 or 7.1.2 configuration. Equipment feet, magnetic fabric covers, and the instruction manual come with both speakers.

What's better, add-on modules or in-ceiling speakers?

That depends on your ceiling. Add-on modules like the AR 1 need no construction work and work very well with flat, acoustically hard ceilings. In-ceiling speakers are more precise and independent of the ceiling's surface, but require drilling and cable runs. We'll help you work out what fits your room.

How high can the ceiling be for the AR 1?

Dolby recommends ceiling heights of roughly 2.3 to 3.5 meters for upward-firing speakers. Below that, the reflection becomes too direct; above it, too weak and diffuse. It's also important to have a smooth, undamped surface above the speakers, so no acoustic panels in that spot.

Does the AR 1 also fit speakers from other series?

Basically yes, as long as the floorstander has a flat, sufficiently large top surface. The included equipment feet decouple the module from it. Visually and tonally, the combination stays most coherent within the Vento series, since the tweeter and finishes are identical there.

Why buy the Canton Vento AR 1 in white at HD Zürisee?

Because we don't just deliver, we plan the system. Our technician Mauri mounts, wires, and calibrates your home cinema on-site on request, and we'll tell you beforehand whether two height channels are enough or four make sense. Call us, write to us, or use WhatsApp.

Goes well with: the other solutions for the height layer under Dolby Atmos speakers, alternatives for tricky ceilings under in-ceiling speakers. You'll find front, center, and rear models under home cinema speakers, and the necessary foundation under subwoofers.
